Dodge Viper GTS 1996-2002 Lego Project

    Hello all,

I spent 13 weeks building this Viper out of LEGO's and I've just submitted it to LEGO DESIGN to hopefully become an official LEGO product on the shelves. I just need 10,000 votes for that to happen, it is free to register and "support" the project.

Here is the link to the Project:
    https://ideas.lego.com/projects/124330

There is a link within to the Viper Alley forum where I basically made a thread about the build if you are interested, as a well as a link to my Flickr page for more pictures.

I hope you like this project, I'm currently working on two new prototypes. Let me know if you have any questions.

Don't forget to build a black one, Ben!

    Jack,

There happens to be a part (slope 53) the angle on the doors that I used in the design that is very rare in the color red. I am only able to source this part in black and I've ordered some of them.

Yes I am working on prototype versions 2 & 3 both of which will be black. The shell will remain the same, changes will only be made to enhance the frame and structure of the model.

That is awesome. I hope they make it, I'll definitely buy it.

Blue white please. My 11 year old is in the Lego phase so I would let him build it.

Thanks! With the current design, I won't be able to build in blue, I'm not saying it won't happen or I'll never do it, but there is a specific part(8 of them) in my design that will only allow me to build models in black or white-maybe gray currently.

Of course this could change if pieces become available or LEGO makes new parts. Who knows.

I made an account so I could vote for it. I loved Legos as a kid. My nephews are nuts about them. I would love to see this happen!

I have to brag that I helped Ben do a little 'project research' for this project....

Well, blacksnake, you basically did half the work for him ; )

Seriously this dude has some intense Lego skills and I would love to be able to buy the Viper set for my nephews.

    Nice job Ben. Very creative.

The thread in the other Forum, unfortunately, got predictably ugly.

Love it...and the hood / hatch operation is the icing on the cake. The engine detail is phenomenal. Now all you have to do is provide us an inventory of blocks we need with instructions!!!

Thanks everyone for the support, it means a lot to me! I've submitted my design to many Lego blogs and will keep you updated

    Regarding model colors:

Black: Both prototypes version 2 & 3 being built currently will be all black. I expect them to be done in 3 - 5 weeks depending on parts arriving on time.

Red: Future red models I'm not sure. I got what appears to be the only rare 8 pieces I have been able to find in months (see door angle 53 degree piece).

White: Appears possible but I'm not sure stock gen2's were made in white??

    Yellow: Appears possible, stand by.

Dark Gray: Appears possible, stand by.

    Assembly line:

Thanks so much for this enthusiastic post! I worked hard to get the engine right for the size of my model.
