GEN 4 '08-'13 bored Throttle Bodies

Found some Gen4 '08-'13 bored CNC ported TBs. Bored from 74mm to 78mm.

    HERE-- http://www.ebay.com/itm/290870202612

Has anyone used these? Do they help make more power?

There are a few red flags that stick out in my head with something like this:

    1. The throttle bodies are plastic, so there's a question of how much material is being removed and from where...I'm not sure how thick the stock TBs are, but I'd certainly not want to remove too much material.

    2. They say "no tuning required", but I know for a fact that '08+ Vipers are incredibly sensitive to any changes in airflow. If something is even a little bit off, the car will go into limp mode, and it is no fun when that happens. Given what I know of tuning my own heap, I'd tend to not believe "no tuning required". At the very least, you'd probably want to do a throttle relearn, and that requires either a trip to the dealership or you'll need to buy HPTuners and use the throttle relearn function that's been built into the latest beta version of the 2.25 scanner.

    3. The stock throttle bodies already flow a massive amount of air...I just have a hard time believing that even bigger throttle bodies would net anything significant. There's nothing I've seen that suggests the throttle bodies are a bottle-neck of any sort when it comes to airflow into the engine.

Thanks, that is what I needed to know.

    Gen IV was '08 - 10.

You can upgrade your Gen IV with a Gen V intake. You'll get "porting" and save ~100 lbs.

John, you might want to check your information. The gen 4 intake doesn't weigh 100+lbs, LOL. The weight savings from a gen 4 to gen 5 is about 12 lbs. Also, the gen 5 isn't ported, it is a different design, no common plenum but rather individual smaller plenums with longer runners among other differences.

Oops I added a zero. I know it's not ported, but the design is such that it is supposed to emulate it in flow characteristics.

Mine's been ported. I have the Ilmor 725HP.
