Has anybody here driven both on track and can give a comparative opinion?

Don't even think about this. Get the Gen V ACR E.
I'm hoping to soon. I know I will feel a lot safer in my X compared to the newer car.
The brakes alone on the Extreme is leaps and bounds compared to the gen4 X.
For the money you'd save on the X, you can build a kick ass track car.
Thank you all for your input!
Strong endorsement coming from a Comp Coupe owner! I just haven't warmed up to the Gen V look yet and I am looking at options for a track car only situation, without going for the Comp Coupe option.
Safety factor of the ACR-X with its built-in rollcage from the factory is a huge bonus from my perspective and it seems you are of the same mindset. Hope to hear more from you once you spent some ACR-E seat time.
Agree with you on that, I always felt that for track duty better brakes were a must. Certainly adequate for street driving but questionable on tracks like Laguna Seca. Great to hear feedback based on comparative experience!
That was my initial idea as it would be a track car only, never driven on the road, only transported to the track and back. The ACR-X already comes with the rollcage and is a pretty well proven track car. Update the brakes to 6 piston front calipers with 15" CC discs and install wider rims and tires in the front are about the only mods I would be inclined to do. Later on I might play with different transmission and differential ratios.
I went with a comp coupe. Love the new ACR but for the money and extra safety it seemed like a good idea.
