    Turbo my TA?

Hey guys it's Matt, I just signed up for the forum. I bought Orange TA #20 back in January. I was waiting for D3 to finish their supercharger package to decide if I wanted to go Twin Turbo or Supercharger and what shop I want to send it to. So the time is now, I'm leaning towards turbo and I want to make a decision in the next few days. I've been driving a Viper for years and have a local Viper expert but this is the first one I am going to build. I'm a little nervous because I do NOT have a local Viper performance shop and any of the reputable shops that do this build are over 1,000 miles away. Looking forward to hear what you guys have to say.

Curious why you are leaning towards turbo vs procharger.

I wouldn't turbo/SC any 13 or 14 Viper until you are out of the woods on the spun bearing issue. Lot's of vipers spinning bearings under 8k miles (mine included). If you have a turbo you just pissed away ~30k to get a new engine...or $8k to rebuild.

Personally I wouldn't do anything to void a factory warranty.

I believe when you are over 5k miles if you haven't blown up you are out of the woods. my first 14 spun a bearing at 4500 miles and now my current 14 has 12,500 miles on and i've beaten on it pretty hard. i started with HP tuners, pulley and headers and now the arrow pcm and it's rock solid.

I have been making over 1000RWHP and 1000TQ on mine for over a year, 3k full kill racing miles. If it has survived that, it will survive some boost. In Matts case racing and driving for 10k miles he will be beyond fine.

I have 10k miles on the car. Leaning towards turbo because the kits are ready and tested.

Yeah Paul, I'm headed back to Vegas for work at the end of Jan. Perfect timing to get out of the cold here in NY.

If you are in the city, you could also go to P1 Motorcars in Stamford CT, which is only 55 minutes from you. I don't let anyone else touch my cars.

D3 and Calvo are about the same $ for TT. the differences I know of are: Calvo runs air to air intercooler, custom turbo headers, Tilton clutch and Motec. D3 runs a air to water intercooler, stock manifolds, mantic clutch and ProEFI. D3 modded my c6 ZR1 and did a great job, I have no experience with Calvo. You should contact Nasty GTS, he was the owner who got screwed by RSI and then took the car to D3 and they fixed and got his TT running.

We do have an air to water as an optional upgrade. But the base kit does come with air to air. Between our in-house CNC and design team we can build anything in house like every fabricated or machined component on our kits are.

Glad you are thinking of using us Matt and I'm sure whoever you choose you will love having a tt gen v viper!

I'd like to hear some opinions on the difference between these parts.
