Any Owners going to paint the grill?

Any Gen V Owners seriously considering to paint the "cross hair" grill to match to body? Maybe get it wrapped first for fun?

I don't know if it's because I didn't own a previous gen Viper, but I have no desire to paint the cross hairs in the grill. Looks nice the way it is to my eye, the design is gorgeous. I thought they did it right. I saw one painted, and didn't care for it.

SOmeone has done this already. I have a picture if it on my phone. Personally I agree with Venom V...I like it the way it is. Now if someone wants to make a carbon fiber replacement for it...

I considered it briefly, but gave it up for two reasons...the black grille looks great on the white Viper (as do the black vents, etc), and it doesn't appear on any of the factrory (stock or racing) Vipers.

I like how it's body color on previous gens but ours from the pics I've seen looks better unpainted.

If this grille was part of the bumper and not a separate peice, it would look fine painted. However, I think because it is a separate peice, the flow is broken up. It looks too busy. A CF version would look good though.

Yes, so far the mods are : Painted front grille, No drone Corsa exhaust, clear bra, tinted windows, custom luggage and 2 sets of Sidewinders wheels with machined faced w/black painted SRT logo. One set with the Pirelli Corsa for the track and Michelin PSS for the street.
Futur mods (next summer if available) will be Mopar PCM with Belanger headers, and aero front and rear spoiler kit. A steeper first gear ratio would be welcome too !
Plans to make this my Dream car would include a wider rear body kit and big HP upgrade like a twin turbo kit.

Its really amazing how just a few ounces of paint Viperizes the front of the 5, connecting it better with its predecessors. I think that is a great effect. It should most definitely be an option.

I prefer it black. Mostly because the design of the grille is too busy, with the slots cut between the spokes. If the grille were a simple crossbar like the previous Gen, then it would look better painted. I'd suspect that someone could made a nicer looking grille in the aftermarket, which might look even better when painted. Especially on the striped cars.

I think I do like it painted better. Now my problem is I have a 14 white GTS with gunmetal stripes. If I paint the grille do I put stripes on the group?

I bought my Adrenaline Red car from Woodhouse!

On the splitter, I like it better black. If I could paint the rear piece around the tail lights, however, I would've as it is the one part of the car that I think looks cheap. They oddly allowed it to be painted on the SRT model but not on the GTS. Also the carbon fiber option alternative , well, you know.

Or you could follow Bob's theme and do fangs in gunmetal to match the stripes.

If you do paint the grill the stripes going through could be a unique look --- betting someone could take the picture done above and photoshop it for the correct look?!

Here is the grille insert once removed, it's much easier to paint the whole piece than trying to do just the crosshair.
Also while I was there, I got some black plastic rain gutter mesh from the local hardware store and installed it behind the black bumper to protect the radiator from unwanted flying objects.

I Like the painted Grille, and a great idea there putting the mesh behind the grille

The only thing I'm not sure of is on the lower part of the grille, the two small vertical pieces by the side of the Brake ducts.

I think they might have been better left Black, Its making the grille look a little busy? Not sure? Thing is if you did leave them Black it might then look like there are some pieces missing from the bottom of the grille?

There were some great renditions on the old site a while back but many of them disappeared. There were some really good colour options with and without painted grilles, stripes no stripes.

Looks great either way. Many of us Viper owners want to have a unique look and this can be a very subtle change.

Having had the car both with painted and unpainted grille, my conclusion is the car looks tougher with the black grille, especially with bright colors, and it looks a bit more classy with the grille painted. So it all depends on the personal look you're after.

Wow, something that seems so "subtle" actually changes the look quite a bit. I like it

My opinion might vary per color, but I prefer the black grill on the white car myself.
