    Converting my 08 coupe to ACR. Questions and HELP needed!

    Alright over the past few weeks I have been acquiring parts to make this ACR conversion. After selling my 1:33 ACR there are some things I missed about it so i've decided to clone my B&W coupe to a ACR.

    Here is what I know is different:

    ACR Sidewinder Wheels -- Have
    Sport Cups -- Have
    2 piece rotors/pads -- Have
    KW Suspension -- Trying BC but will eventually do Motons
    Front Splitter -- Have
    Canards -- Have ACR-X canards
    Fog Delete -- Have
    ACR decals -- Have but thinking about having custom vinyl's made instead
    Rear Wing -- NEED

    Is there anything else I am missing? I thought I read somewhere there is a belly pan? If so is that different from stock?

    Also anyone have a lead on a rear wing?

    Buy a real ACR. Or, don't put ACR decals on the car. Just another poser clone car then.

    Agree^^^^ Or buy your previous ACR back.

    If you add the ACR wing you will need new Decklid struts too.

    I suppose I would never grasp the "poser" statement. If a car is done right to spec or better that seems like complete nonsense but I guess that's a matter of opinion. I was on the fence about the decals for that reason as well but didn't think much of it.

    6th and blknblu completed your list. Skip the KW's and go with motons/MCS or Penske's. Do want you want with badging, gut the interior, add a cage etc. and badge it acr-x. just don't try and sell it without disclosing its a clone

    Great and thanks for the help. I was already on that same page with the coilovers.

    I'd never pretend the car wasn't something it isn't. That would be foolish and I don't have the time for that BS.

    HD shocks, Sway bar and Wing need to be found!

    Agree on the decal thing if its not a factory ACR don't add the ACR decals. Other than that clone away they are fantastic cars and perform great.

    Pay no attention to the snarky commentary and do as you wish. So you installed the options instead of the factory. Big whoop. People will continuously point out that it's not a "real" ACR but you'll get used to it. Personally, I have no problem with that and prefer people know mine is not an ACR. Plus if you do most or all of the work yourself, you'll know more about your car than 99% of the ACR owners out there.

    Given what I said above, I obviously never considered ACR decals. Had I purchased an ACR, I would have removed them. I think the vinyl decals look cheap.

    Don't bother with the front sway bar unless you plan to track the car.

    You do not need to replace the rear hatch struts. Just don't leave it open if there's a breeze.

    Great info and thanks! Really helps with the decision making and I've decided to pass on the decals and shocks. Will probably go with the sway bar as the price is pretty cheap and I'll be in there working on some other things anyways.

    I bought my ACR wing from Scharf on eBay. They had 2 more at the time, one with red and one with green.

    I purchased my acr front sway bar from mark jorgenson, there is a specific part number he should have it. They are the same size stock is hollow acr is solid. Im running mcs suspension and not sure i noticed any difference with the solid bar.

    If the bars are the same outer diameter, that's why...the bar's stiffness is mostly driven by that outer diameter. Solid would be marginally stiffer than the same size hollow bar, but it's something most wouldn't notice. The solid bar will certainly weigh more, but that isn't a positive in my book.

    The decals are big bucks anyway, as long as you leave the decklid down you are ok, but the standard trunk struts will no last. Is that what you mean by shocks, cause the standard coilovers will start to see degradation above 60 mph.

    I agree also, do what YOU want.

    Luke's '08 looks BAD @ss and not overdone at all. He made it his own and I think that's what's kewl!

    I don't know exactly what JonB's plans are for my GTS Blue/Black ACR (I'm hoping it gets rebuilt as a racer and lives on), but he'll eventually have my car - and other than front-end damage, all the other ACR parts are good. Shocks all look perfect, rear wing is perfect, decklid is perfect. I don't want to wish for my car to get parted out, but at least the donor parts will hopefully go to a good home if the car itself doesn't get rebuilt.

    Martin we will almost certainly sell this (thru Scharf) as the BEST quality rebuilder possible. So your wing wont be available. (We do have others.) Sad to see.........

    As far as a "clone"............. NARRA is even developing competition rules for clones of the ACR and of the ACR-X, so there is no reason to look down on an owner that is making a "tribute car" to an original. More Power To Ya....

    Thanks Jon - I know it'll be in good hands and going to a good home, and I'd love to see it when it gets put back together. I might even buy it back That car is a special one - just can't beat the color combo on it, and I had altogether way too much fun with that car.

    Me too... Talk about a random confluence of crappy events that all happened together to end up with a severely broken car. But, I'm going to hopefully replace it with a Gen V/VI ACR with similar color combo to make it all better. Definitely saving my pennies because I have a feeling the days of affordable ACRs from the factory might be in the past...
