Exclamation Contact info for FCA or whoever may help?

I've been trying to get my hood vent and carpet issue resolved for 6 months without resolve and the regional Chrysler Rep keeps suggesting jerry-rigging ideas that don't work (nor should I have to settle for). The vent flew off on day 3 of owning the car and carpet was soaked due to drain line disconnect and soaking carpet within the first week of owning as well. The dealer is understandably following the chain of command by continuing to take this to the same rep.

I want to escalate this as high as possible and speak for myself...enough is enough!!!!

Someone please PM me the contact info or how/who I should reach out to. I've been extremely patient and have taken to 3 dealers now.

I appreciate any suggestions of how I can directly escalate and reach the correct focal point in corporate!!!!!

    Thanks,
    Justin

Besides replacing the missing vent... What do you want them to do?

  4. #4
I need my hood replaced or see if this alleged new hood vent design that hasn't hit 2016 outgoing production will work. Carpet was replaced but shipped horribly, creased and won't lay down and comes out of door sill....looks like crap.

Asking for the hood to be replaced, a $10,000 part because a $80 piece of plastic came off isn't going to happen. Let's be real.

If the carpet isn't sitting correctly that should be fixed.

ViperSmith....my hood was damaged from the factory and a new hood vent will not fix the problem. If you'd taken some time to ask for insight rather than interject opinion with absolutely no knowledge of my situation I would have gladly sent you a PM and brought you up to speed. Know the facts before being judgmental....let's be real!

    Have a nice day!

So we were supposed to magically infer your hood was damaged from the factory?

    Good to know.

Thanks for the help from the guys who provided assistance and stayed on topic, 7TH_SIGN and G37Sam!

You were not supposed to magically attempt to diagnose and provide a solution to my issues, you are correct. I asked for assistance with escalating my issues at a higher level.. Thanks for getting back on track....

Maybe the 2016 design vents with clips will work?

Mark that is the design FCA is going to send us but this customers hood would have problems even with that vent as there is not enough surface area for the front clips to attach to, and I have been working with him and the Factory folks on getting them to pull a set off the assembly line for us to try on his car. They have yet to send us anything after repeated attemps but assure us they are going to get us a "prototype" set as soon as they can pull one off the assembly line. We were told they are coming out with a new "moveable" clip design that would work perfect for this customers specific problem. We have taken this well past the regional rep to our favorite Top of the food chain Global Head of design who got us in touch with the folks that are working on the vents on the design team.

We are working directly with the design team and engineers, it's obviously taking longer than us or the customer wants. They have deinied the hood replacement even though we tried and tried to get it replaced.

They are not going to ship a new carpet because of shipping creases, so we are going to work on getting the carpet to lay flatter so that the customer is happy and I will get his car in as soon as he likes for the carpet issue. Frustrating issue for all involved, both customer and dealer.

It's been sitting in 100+ Texas heat for the entire summer backing and still hasn't relaxed, but we'll steam it and apply heat whatever we need to do to get it right for the customer.

Mark, thanks for the suggestion. You were one of the first who began helping me months ago with info over the phone. As Andy stated, we can try to simply check the box as we have on numerous other unlikely remedies...bottom line, when are enough makeshift attempts enough? Even through skepticism I have given every suggestion the respect of trying them to no avail. Why can't a manufacturer design issue be legitimately resolved after a half of year of bs???? Sadly, this will probably be my last Viper due to feeling as no value as a consumer of a respectably priced car...my dream car at that. I don't condone supporting companies who don't give a rats ass about its customers.

Andy, you stated you made an attempt to contact FCA and jumped over the regional rep's head and I appreciate it. That was on September the 4th according to your email but since stated you did not feel comfortable doing it again and stated you were going to continue to go through the useless regional rep. Will you PLEASE quit wasting time on this guy Tim Mancini and press forward with keeping this escalated and not give up?

If anyone gets pissed for being jumped over who is adding no value to the solution, that is their problem, not mine or yours....this is well documented from VE's end as well as mine. Please call and email them again (to create more documentation) and don't give up....please! I appreciate it....

September 1st was my first written convo with the factory engineers but not my last communication with them. I call as well for updates weekly. I have not given up on it and continue to follow up with them. I'll keep trying until we get the part or they give some sort of final decision.

Hearing that you will continue to stay on them on a weekly basis sounds awesome. Please keep me updated weekly with new or no news. This was not what I took away from your last email. I appreciate the efforts you've made and your opinion that aligns with mine....the hood vents are not the problem, the hood is. Until we fix the problem (i.e. hood), everything else is a waste of time. I should not have to settle for anything less than a viable solution or one that falls into the McGyver improvision category!

    Thanks!

    Andy,

I assume this is what they are going to tell you to do

I wanted to pop mine off, but all six are affixed with strong adhesive tape. I noticed that the vents would not have stayed secure, because they cut the holes too large and the clips would not have worked.

On the rounded bottom edge, the bottom middle clip is the only one touching the hood, the one to its right and left both don't touch the hood at all.

My 09 had that problem with the sides of the carpeting sliding down and coming out of the channel that is supposed to hold it.

Dealerships solution was to install some industrial grade velcro type hook and loop fasteners. Thought that was a pretty cheesy solution, but it ended up working fantastic. The carpet stayed up where it was supposed to be, but I could still remove it if ever the need arose.

Hand built, artisian crafted production cars produce some pretty amazing results, but sometimes these fit and finish items need some refinement.

Looking at the picture of the vent and the clips, are you saying that the customers car does not have that lip for the clips to attach to?

From a practical point of view could the hood be removed from customers car and extra carbon / glass work be bonded to the underside of the hood to make a lip for the vents to sit correctly? I know Max in Germany had a vent fly off his Gen V! Am I correct in thinking the hoods are Carbon or are they wet laid?

Without seeing the underside of the customers hood its hard to tell if that solution would work? "Sounds" like a design or molding problem to me

Sorry to hear you are having problems Texas Snake

Correct, at some point in time the lip of this customers hood was clearanced around where the clips grab hold, making any of the new revisions worthless except for the newest movable clip option the design team has been prototyping. This is the part we are waiting on. The factory design team is aware of the OP's car and situation and has promised to send us a preproduction/early production set of these new vents as soon as they have a set available from the manufacturer. The other option is to bond the vent to the hood.

I'm glad to hear you haven't had an issue. Keep a close eye, though when it happens it's instantaneous. Some hoods had larger and more reliefs cut into them than others. It's only my front 2 vents and unfortunately there are notches all the way around that are very large, allowing for trivial contact with the clips. I'm just thankful when it's flown off a few times it hasn't chipped any paint or my windshield or struck another car on the road for that matter. I think double sided tape can help in some cases but not when the notches appear to be cut by a mischievous kid.
