Would you feel a bit upset?

So I just came across what I thought was a Hellcat Challenger but found out it was the Challenger Trak Pak. I was 5 to 8 feet behind him at a traffic light when he began to smoke his tires, power braking in front of me. It didn't register at the time because I was enjoying the sound and smoke.

We raced, I smoked him, small talk and seemingly nice guy and then after parting ways, I thought for a second and hoped he didn't throw shit on my car and create chips. I will inspect tomorrow but after thinking about it, shouldn't this have been common sense not to do that or am I overthinking it? Just curious y'all's opinions....

People ask me to do burnouts at lights all the time and generally I say that it is monsterously uncool to the person behind me. And no matter what kind of car they are in, it is monsterously uncool. Yes I would be upset. You said he seemed nice so maybe he meant it as a "car guy-hey what's up...nice car" sort of thing but that is not the way to go about it.

I think you are more likely to get your window chipped than get your paint all messed up. Again though, still inappropriate.

Oh, and I only mention this because I know how I think but if you do find a little chip or some standard low car wear and tear, does not mean it came from that one situation. Since I am a crazy person and have some screws loose, I would inspect my paint, find every little flaw, end up thinking that most of them came from that one burnout (even though I know that was totally not the case) and then I would bitch and complain about it and lose sleep and drive my girlfriend crazy. Even though, the front of our cars takes a beating because of how low it is. We get little pitting even if there are no big chips. All exotics do, hence the invention of the clear bra. But I tell you all this because I know that I am a crazy person and would hate for you to let this one person's lack of judgment make you nuts. But if it does and you need to vent, I am here for you. Fellow crazy Viper guy to crazy Viper guy.

You're underthinking it. The common sense thing to do is not street race. You're lucky that's all that happened.

gopearl....get a life. We were on open highway like a lot of other members who post videos of their races here. Your answer is off topic and has ZERO value. Thanks for the useless post....forum police....

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I just don't feel the need to try and beat a guy who has a vastly inferior car in a street race to show my manhood.

Its not always about beating the other guy, it's just having fun, At the end of the day he's another "Gearhead" and it's fun I would rather a small performance of a quick wheel spin and a few engine revs than a possibly dangerous all out street race.

    But that's just me

I wasn't aware that street racing validates manhood....as stated, I thought he was in a Hellcat due to what appeared to be the Hellcat insignia on the front fender as he passed me at night. And if I chose to race a Prius, frankly it's none of your business.

Seems to me more of a need to validate your manhood via posting pointless and opinionated comments that had nothing to do with the subject to begin with. Maybe you should start a "Street racing is unacceptable" thread if you would like to speak on that topic. Get a life....

Also, to be clear, we were at a dead stop at a red light and he roasted his tires 5 to 8 feet directly in front of my car for about 10 seconds straight....I was more intrigued at how well his car sounded than realizing he could be blasting my paint (and windshield). I didn't think about the potential damage but know I would never burnout directly in front of any car by power braking. Then again, I don't power brake in the first place....waste of tires.

Yeah, my ignorance for not ever hearing of the Trak Pak package or whatever the hell. It passed me sounding good and I saw an insignia that appeared to be a Hellcat and was just curious how close it would be. Wasn't until after the race and research I realized I had raced a 2 ton car with 485hp....lol

Well this one's been killed off by the fun police.........

But, to answer your question, I would have been immediately annoyed. Not sure about where you live, but where I live, the roads are always covered in abrasive dust. I try to be an adult most of the time when I think about things first, but my reaction would have been to give him shit for spraying my car, rather than to compare cars and stories. And I'm not that guy who obsesses over rock chips, cars are meant to be driven, not looked at. My car also spends half its existence covered in rubber flecks from the track......... but I'd be more annoyed at the stupidity and lack of respect of your paint.

Now if he had done a brake stand in the next lane, I'd chuckle and give him the thumbs up. So I think you have a case to feel the way you do.

Darngnik and I are on the same page here. I got nothing to say about the supposed racing or whatever, and usually I like the car guy to car guy appreciation. But doing a burnout in front of someone is a dick move. No matter what kind of car is behind you, some dude you don't know doesn't deserve to get peppered with rocks and dirt and pieces of tire.
