    Back into a viper?

    Hello viper community.
Earlier this year I sold my Triple Black Gen 3 Viper to pitch in on an investment property with my dad. In the mean time I bought a 2005 E55 AMG as a daily. I've built up quite a bit of equity on my AMG and want to trade that in for another Viper. As of right now I am torn between these two vipers that I have found listed on Autotrader. One is a red 97 GEN 2 GTS with silver stripes and the other is a red 04 Vert. Here are the links for both listings:

Does anyone who anything about either of these cars? And or so has an opinion on GEN 2 vs GEN 3 Vipers? I am torn between these two cars and can't decide which is the better option. FYI i can't afford the GEN IV or a GEN 3 coupe because my budget is no more than 40k. I spend every night dreaming about a GEN 4 coup so please don't bring it up lol.

I think the Gen II is timeless. It never looks bad.

But it sounds like you are a convertible guy. Since this would be your second one.

There's 5 gen3 coupes on ebay right now, in the mid 40's. You could probably get at least one of them down to around 40k. There's also a gen4 salvage title coupe for 43k, if that's an option.

    Me...I'm a vert man.

Are salvaged vipers a pain to sell? I found a black with tan interior Gen 4 that has a chipped bumper, damaged side exhaust and scratched under carriage no airbag deploy with 5k miles going for 30k. If I can stretch mid 40s I will look at 06 coupes instead. I'm taking the resale value into extreme consideration because my IDEAL viper is a Gen 4 ACR. But saving up for that will take another year and half at least and I am not going to wait that long without a Viper

I actually had a car in the past with a salvage title, and it was indeed a pain to sell. Something to keep in mind for you is that, if/when you decide to sell the car, and the potential buyer needs to finance his purchase, many banks will not approve financing for salvage titles. It limits the buyer pool pretty significantly, not to mention some of the stigma that exists with salvage titles in some peoples' minds. Just some things to consider before pulling the trigger yourself.

Correct on that. Banks aren't usualy amped to loan on a salvage car. Also, it changes insurance and they may not do agreed value for you.

Keep in mind the 97 did not come with Silver Stripes --those were added at some date.
