Gen 3 and 4 are much better than the gen 2 everyone is showing. I ran 1000rwhp with them on street tires. I put 7k miles on that car.

Note also that wheel hop damage can be accumulative. Previous incidents can lead to failure during much less stressful conditions at the time of failure. Not saying that's what happened in the posted cases within this thread... just something to note. I'd like to swap to a GEN4 diff and shafts at some point in my GEN2. Currently running 3:55 GEN2 diff with stock shafts.
Jon B just told me "new solid shafts sold out none available". Does anyone know if they are available anywhere else? Direct from Unitrax? Thanks, Andy
I ran into the same problem a few months ago when I was looking for the same, all of which was documented here:
https://driveviper.com/forums/thread...er-CV-Question
Bottom line - there is one place I found that apparently has the solid shafts: http://www.viperpartsusa.com/catFrame.php?prodCat=7D
The price listed is per shaft, so you'll be spending ~$2k to get those.
The only other option I'm aware of is from The Driveshaft Shop, which is what I went with here: http://www.driveshaftshop.com/domest...h-female-inner
The price is around $1,600 for the pair, but you will need to swap over your ABS rings. That process was documented in my thread too.
I looked into doing the Gen 5 axles, but they won't work because they changed the design of the stub axles in 2013 from male splines to a bolt-together flange.
Not sure if anyone has tried a custom shop but we used to campaign World extreme rock crawling in unlimited and stock modified and Tom Woods can make drive shafts! http://www.4xshaft.com
I cannot say they would do it and what the cost could be, but I’m telling you extreme rock crawling is as tough on drive shafts as it gets. They would make half shafts for desert trucks and full drive lines for a lot of the top teams in WeRock and XRRA.
Good luck friends and just trying to offer a suggestion
Oh and unitrax was in the off road world as well.
To clear the air about GenIV's in this thread (I realize it's an older thread) I have a 2008 with a very late build date of May 2008. Seeing that I have a car that was built almost as the 2009 model year began and my car still has the hollow shafts there is no truth that all GenIV's had solid shafts and it also proves that there is no rhyme or reason which 2008's got the solid shafts. Very strange. I will say that I just turned 7,000 miles on my car, and while I don't beat the crap out of it, nor have I had sticky tires but so far so good. This does concern me at times but until there is an easier resolution in comparison to Steve's approach (well documented in another thread and I give him props!) I will keep my fingers crossed.
