    Rain mode

Does anyone know what the rain mode does on 14 gts. Travelling and got caught in a heck of a rain storm. Tried the different modes but did not feel any difference. I know I sure do not like these Pirellis in the rain compared to my Michelin Super Sports on my 08 and 06.

It stops the car from melting

It tightens up the parameters for the ESC and Traction control. In other words, it makes it much more sensitive to any loss of traction to save your ass should you get loose.

I had mine in rain mode when I crashed it during a big rain event.

I wouldn't rely on it to save you. Just remember to never ever ever use the cruise control!!!

I agree, in theory it's supposed to do something but I once ran one session in the rain at Laguna Seca in rain mode and the car felt like it was on ice. The reaction time did not feel fast enough. Never again will I track in the rain. All of the GTR's and small imports were passing me laughing, and once the track dried up later in the day I ate them all alive.

I thought it bought the drivers seat base sides in to hold you a bit tighter as your rear end puckers up seeing a wet road!

Define which tire, the Corsa's are excellent in the rain.

Don't buy Toyo R888s. Brilliant tyre in the dry but really bad in standing water

I love the car in the rain! You can get the car to the limit and not overheat! LOL

I tried all modes in the rain and I felt the track mode setting was the best for my driving style. I went full soft on the MCS suspension. If I was going to push it, I would want a much softer front bar. S-M-O-O-T-H is the key. I would also prefer the MPSS tires in the rain as well if I had them.

Bryan, I am bummed about your car…I have been following your OP. I bet the algorithms for the cruise control and the ESC collided when you hit a puddle and momentarily lost traction. As soon as sucker moves, you need to quickly and briefly drop the clutch the square the car up.

I found the Corsa and rain mode to be exceptional in the rain. It poured for my first day and a half on track in a Viper and smooth was definitely the key.

That's interesting, I felt the Corsas were very slippery in the rain, much prefer MPSS or MPSC's in the rain. Then again, I'm not much for rain tracking 100k+ RWD cars. I'd rather take an AWD out for some rain tracking fun.

During this year's One Lap of America we hit rain in Colorado, Texas and Oklahoma and I'm talking about on the interstates. I was scared to death in the P Zeros. Felt like we were on ice the whole time. I think the wider tires on a Gen 5 hydroplane more easily.

I clicked over my 500 mile break-in mileage on the way to Mosport and was feeling a bit terrified at the prospect of driving it in the rain on the first track day. I simulated some skid pad exercises in a vacant paddock to see which end would lose grip first and was stunned at how fast I could hold a circle with gently increasing throttle. It was naturally easy to break grip when rough with the throttle. Had a great day in the rain and only twice did the tires momentarily lose grip...both times under braking when I let the clutch out after a down-shift where I hadn't rev matched well enough.

You need to avoid standing water of course, but I felt safe at well over 100 mph on the straights.

The Corsas in the rain do an excellent job of communicating when they are approaching their limits of grip, and you feel it through the steering wheel as a gravelly feel and know not to push harder. Awesome tire in the dry and wet.

For me, it probably had a lot do with the track surface conditions that day. There were 3 bad accidents that day, and one totaled brand new Z06. I think the track was probably more the culprit than anything.

That's awesome that you had a good experience with them. I like the idea of simulated skid pad exercises. I'm all about doing this as much as possible. I am looking to find a huge empty lot near by for some car control fun.

Considering all systems in newer cars are controlled by the canbus it would be simple for Dodge to automatically disable cruise control when rain mode is selected....just in case we forget

My tires are P Zeros, Just got home from a 1400 Mile trip to Vancouver and back. Drove the car through rain for probably 1000 of the 1400 miles. Might have been a little harsh on the tires as if the water was not standing on the road they seemed to have good grip. Run in rain mode for most of the trip. Standing water on the road though and they are horrible. But a lot of tires that wide are too. IOverall the car ran flawless and I had to add a litre of oil to the engine at 700 mile mark on the trip. Must not be broke in yet as it has 3300 Miles
