    Adding a ACR type Diffuser

I plan on installing the ACR type rear diffuser this winter. There have been a couple of posts on diffuser installs, however, they have run the blades parallel. The G5 ACR has the blades installed in a fan type configuration. Does anyone have an underside picture of the the G5 ACR that shows the diffuser layout?

The blades are closer together towards the front and spread out towards the rear. That scheme is more effective than the parallel scheme.

Just for more information, start at 1:50 here where he discusses the lack of turbulence of the air leaving the ACR. Part of the reason for this is the diffuser design, and in this video you can see the airflow in the rain.

One thing I love about driving my ACR when I get caught in light rain, you can see the aero actually working in the mist, I can only imagine how cool it looks to everyone on the road. Man... I want to add a new ACR to the garage SO bad..

Yes, following a friend in his Gen 4 ACR in the rain, there's a mini twister following behind his car. Looks awesome!

Luckily they are made from plastic and bolt on so they should be easy and (cheap?) to replace.

The blades come on and off, but the extensions that come down are a wear item for the track (made of plastic)

It will not be possible to mimic the diffuser on the ACR with the standard diffuser using the gen 3/4 fins. I'll post a picture in a moment and explain why...

The diffuser lines angle differently from regular to ACR causing mounting point issues. Hopefully my drawing is clear...

Gen IV yes but Gen V plastic from what I understand but I haven't seen them in person. As reported in another thread somewhwre the splitter and blades are a thick heavy plastic.

Your drawing is perfect. Due to the way the plastic diffuser is molded, you cannot install the blades at an angle.

Unless you remove some material at the interference point of the new blades? Guessing here.

What cars have the cover over the blades. This also looks like the parallel version, not, the fan style.

Fin 1,2 as well as 5,6 appear to be connected. The mounting points on the provided acr diffuser pic may not necessarily be the fin angles.

The diffuser blades are carbon fiber, the "extensions" appear to be a nice thick nylon or something... to act as rub strips...

In this photo you can see where the carbon ends and the rub strips begin.

Hope this helps, straight from the factory tour! Which was incredible by the way. I'll throw in a couple other ACRs, just for your viewing pleasure.IMG_7956.jpgIMG_7949.jpgIMG_7958.jpgIMG_7957.jpgIMG_7951.jpg

The two outside fins on each side were not straight, they bent about 10 degrees half way.

That first is the best pic yet! It appears that something could be dabbed relatively easy because the blades never cross over any ridged areas, it's always a flat section to mount to.

And WOW do the factory left and right pieces extend a LOT farther forward than I was expecting! I just looked under my car, they're that big and far forward because they're flattening out open triangle shaped areas in front of each rear tire. So these things appear to be the real deal. Now I want them even more!

I was tipped off to this photo from Ralph's Instagram. Thanks, AK!

The diffuser is more extensive than I expected, impressive.10848340_1647166615556330_66636849.jpg
