    Anyone know anything about SVS cars?

    Hey everyone, still searching and shopping and was wondering if anyone knew anything about cars built by SVS......Saw this one on eBay:

    Looks nice. Interior looks great for having that many miles which is a sign it was cared for and if the write up was correct then it appears to have been well done. I personally am not crazy about the way rear mount turbos look and the way that single exhaust looks on the Gen II (all rear mount turbos not just this one). Small bone to pick, I know. But they just don't light my fire in the looks department.

    How is the rear mount in terms of turbo lag on the Gen II? Does anyone here have experience with that?

    I've heard from someone locally that SVS made garbage cars. I can't seem to find any history online stating such. Hoping someone can shed some light that this is true or not.

    SVSi builds very high power Vipers I've personally never owned one of their custom builds however they should be near the same type of quality of a Lingenfelter Viper.

    I remember you had stated in the past that you never owned a high performance vehicle and wondered If a modified Viper would be too much.. Now your looking at 1000HP Viper? Seriously... What happened to that one Viper you got the loan from Pentagon Federal Credit Union for?

    I've got the bank draft up to a specified amount and can basically purchase any viper I find within that price range, but couldn't work a deal on the other one. It was a little more than I wanted to pay for a car at this time. I'd love to find one closer to me, but that's probably not gonna happen, so I need to take into account the 2k bucks it's going to cost to ship it home. After posting here and talking to some local guys they told me as long as I'm not a moron to not be scared of the horsepower, so that is no longer an issue. I'm now more concerned about who is building any of the cars I come across.

    That stance is horrible along with the sound and look of the exhaust. I've never been a fan of the rear mount TT set ups. Love the color though,LOL.

    So I'm not the only one that thinks a rear mount turbo looks like a little nutsack hanging from the car? And I really don't like the grapefruit shooter exhaust on any of the rear mount turbos I have seen.

    Wouldn't it be possible to make the single big exhaust more aesthetically pleasing by fabricating dual tips that come into one? I mean, if you made a single tip, oval shaped and just about the size of the bumper opening on the Gen II and even welded a septum (for lack of a better term) in it so it looked like two tips close together I think it would look better. And it couldn't affect flow to any noticible level. I just find the big grapefruit shooter out of place. Just my opinion I suppose.

    It's almost impossible to find a shop that someone won't have something negative to say about it. Almost no shop, for any type of vehicle, bats a thousand. It just seems like every shop has at least one person who wasn't thrilled, and then people hear that. So dont go by one opinion of "I heard from someone I know about someone he knew who heard..."

    Also, with few exceptions, never should you give a builder blind faith in their build. You always need a very thorough inspection, ESPECIALLY with highly modded/high horsepower builds.

    Not a fan of the exhaust look. If I had to do it over again. I wouldn't have bought someone else's TT Viper. I would have bought a much cheaper stock one and put twins on it. Then you know what goes into it and what's done to it. Well at least we do, since we do all the work besides the machining.

    I've seen this car in person and it looks awesome. That exhaust is awesome and different from any other car I've seen. I met the previous owner too at a few events and he was a nice guy. As for SVS, I met Ron Sr and Jr and they are good people. They built some very fast cars and have had their share of issues too. If this car is still in IL, and you want to get it thoroughly checked out, PM me and I will send you to the right place.

    SVS made a name for themselves with one of the first TT Gen 2's. Son (generally known as a retard) took it to 242 mph and lived to tell. Like a Houston tuner, their business headed downhill and they handled business in a very shady way. A wave of customer resentment and exposure of shoddy work and no-work done in exchange for money caused their business to dry up and they folded. If you have one of their cars from 97-98, it might be OK, anything after 2000 was probably very poorly done. Check the other "owners" site for more.....

    I'll bite...Why would you call Ron Jr. a RETARD? back in the early days they were actually testing what they were building. Did they take some chances ? Who Knows. But i can tell you he was 1 hell of a driver. You could put him in any car back in the day and he would always be the quick lap. Ron JR., SR, Dave and his other guy were always willing to help. You have to remember this is also around the time the Archers were racing and there was no other Track Support besides SVSI and Autoform. Racing has come along way since 1997 - 2000.
