I'm pretty sure it was Pirellis, if you look closely at the shot 40 seconds into this video the car has Pirellis' on it. I can tell from the sidewall they aren't hoosiers, and there's no grooves in the tires like the hoosiers have. Being the car has Pirelli's stock it makes sense they ran Pirelli slicks. How much faster are the Pirelli's over the Hoosiers?

A Hoosier R100 or R80 would not have grooves in them either. Pirellis are usually a sec or 2 faster than a Hoosier depending on the track. Michelins slicks are about 1 sec a lap faster than the Pirellis

Those are Pirelli DH slicks. Only downside is I guess they are probably 325 rears so there is some contact patch lost there. If you watch later in the video you will see the DH in yellow and the little pirelli logo.

Compounds matter. The Michelins are the fastest but are also the narrowest. They are also the most $$$

Also, the section width on the Hoosier 345 is 14.1", the Pirelli 325 is 13.9". Not as big of a difference as you think

Randy gave the Gen V ACR huge props in his initial review for Motortrend back in July, FWIW.

Yes he did. He is going to love the Viper even more now that his good buddy Mike Levitas bought one. I wouldn't be surprised to see Randy mobbin an ACR extreme at his local tracks.

Leadfoot, that's quite a nice collection of cars you got there. Must be hard to decide which one to take out! Carrera GT with straight pipes is still one of the best sounding cars ever made IMO!

By far the best, and the loudest. I wish I had the money to buy one when they were 300k

Yes Pirelli slicks depending on which compound and length of the track are probably 2-3 seconds a lap faster the Hoosiers and 4-5 seconds faster then a really soft R compound street tire. **** on a car set up to run slicks***
Good news is down force and slick are a great match. Cars with lots of down force can really capitalize with slicks

I am certain l that if they are not going to try to do any record runs or even testing during an HPD weekend. When SRT wants to go for record runs my SRT source (and he is connected) tells me they would use two days of track time minimum, the first day is set up and tune, the second day would be record runs. I doubt they will be doing that with other guys on the track.

This is my thinking too, Scott. My guess is that Nov 1 will be a test and tune day. However if Pobst and Winkler are there, you'd think they'd be going for a record. Hmmm, confused I am but whatever it is, it is good stuff.

Why do this without media? This is a big deal and you want to share that with the masses, lets face it , it's all about selling cars. You want to tell that story to everyone. Just wondering exactly where this "confirmed" information came from?

This is most likely a test and tune day to get the car on Laguna before the real testing begins. I highly doubt, unless they get early morning run time that they will be running for record times. When Winkler ran the record before I don't recall this being a big media coverage day?

This information came from the group that is renting the track, and included an email forward directly from SRT thanking them for the opportunity and short notice adjustment. It has also been verified by a board member who has indirectly verified this with Randy himself.

Thanks guys! I'm honored to have been able to pick up what I have. The CGT with the straight pipes is definitely something to behold!! The car is my favorite I've ever owned! But with prices on the rapid rise--it does mess with your psyche that you don't want to drive it TOO much! The FGT and 670SV cars are also more "investment" minded cars that I don't drive regularly.
I really like doing track events, so I'm super excited about getting back into an ACR. The ZO6/ZO7 is really an awesome overall car--just not cut out for hard runs at the track during the summer. I'm going to keep it as my weekend "mountain run" car--which I'm confident it will excel at!!

My point is, if they go for the record they want someone to cover it. There is likely a story to be told. So they would want a media outlet there, like motor trend or similar pub. They would not make a big event out of it of course.

It looks like there may be something to this recent track testing that SRT appears to be doing with the ACR. I was just reading an article that mentioned this about the suspension settings:

"Dial out some understeer, soften things up when it’s raining, or match the suspension to Dodge’s prescribed recommendations – the brand is working on coming up with a list of ACR settings best-suited to popular racetracks around the U.S."

So they are possibly going to prescribe a list of settings for some of the more popular tracks. With all the combinations of adjustment available...this would be really cool, as it would give us a great starting point to work from. I truly hope this is the case....just dial it in and go! Let Winkler and the boys figure out the best possible settings.

That would be cool....Hopefully the mags wont be lazy and will take the time to set the suspension to the track they are testing so as to get the best time with the ACR for that specific track. That might be expecting too much from them though lol.

Those SRT engineers are damned clever !!!!!! I can see these folks sitting around the lunch table discussing: "How do we get the bosses to pay us to drive our new race car at the coolest tracks in the US ?" And at the same time they give their customers a good starting point for setting up their car. This is a brilliant move if that is what they are doing.

Chris, this is awesome! They've tested at Willow Springs and Buttonwillow, and Laguna Seca is on their short list of course. That's many of CA's best tracks. If they publish set ups for this tracks plus Thunderhill and Sears Point, we are golden

This is great news, I had hoped they would do something like this. With all of the aero and suspension adjustability available they want to help everyone stay "in the window" and make sure the ACRs remain fast in the hands of the owners. I'm impressed, Dodge/SRT and the ACR are the real deal. Add this invaluable data to the already bargain price of the ACR...

Please put Kuno Witmer in the car. He would pick up significant time over anyone else (barring Tommy Archer).

I will lay odds that Ben could run with the best of them
