I have been looking at pictures of the new ACR's wheels and tires. Are those the same wheels and tires found on the GT's? Are those cars lowered so they look bigger? I haven't seen any in person yet.

The wheels on the new ACR are specific to that car. They are lightweight racing wheels similar in appearance to the wheels on the hellcats. They are also 19" front and rear rather than having 18" fronts on all the base, GT, TA, and GTS models. The tires are also ACR specific Kumho Ecsta v720s while the base, GT, GTS, and TA models come with pirelli p-zero or p-zero corsas.

Nothing light weight about them though. Honestly the best rims are the SW2s...
PartsRack has the 2016 ACR wheels and tires IN STOCK and on sale, $2000 off MSRP.
We have a thread posted in the wheel-tire-suspension forum!

Wow. Really sad they are THAT much heavier than the SW2's.
Yea, I was thinking of a perfect setup for track use with those and the new tires, but I'll be darned if I'll increase unsprung weight like that. And a set of extra SW2s is the best buy in wheels, whether new from JonB, or resale. I hope we see 18" tires from Kumho, then it's done and done. I could see myself using my SW2s with those ACR tires, if 18s come, for track use and doing aftermarket for the street, to me that would make more sense if you want something different. But just opinion.
Does anyone have a side by side pic of SW2 and the new ACR rims. Is there more different going on here than meets the eye? I can't see adding unsprung weight on the ACR unless there is a reason. Must be some reasons for that ACR wheel choice. Are the ACR rims full magnesiums?
Just curious?
Yea, magnesium would solve the problem, but then we'd be complaining even more about the cost. lol
The fronts are like 30% heavier, but it's also a 19 vs a 18. Perhaps with the extra ton of down force and a car designed to be tracked more than street driven, they're beefier and so heavier. Wild guess.
Now to figure out how much the complete carbon brake setup weighs vs the OEM Stoptech brake setup vs the Viper Exchange big brake setup..
Here are some questions that should be answered as well regarding brakes.
Short of the bling factor, what is the REAL advantage of the CS brakes on the new car?
How about a real performance comparison between the following setups:
OEM Brembo (4 piston) w/the OEM Stop Tech 2 piece rotor.
OEM Brembo (4 piston)TA Spec pads on TA spec Brembo rotor.
6 Piston (Tomball/Stoptech) on 15” Stop tech rotor. (18” wheel compatible)
Brembo 6 piston monoblocs on 15” Brembo rotors (Comp Coupe) 18” wheel compatible)
The World Challenge Comp Coupe brake setup is still the gold standard with the massively thick (1” thick rotors) that take a licking and still keep ticking. Yes I know they weigh more….
All of the above brake systems can be run on stock uprights. It is my understanding (please correct me if I am wrong) that in order to run the ACR CS brakes require the ACR uprights also. Not a cheap date.
Please don’t talk about unsprung weight as it needs to be taken in conjunction with the entire vehicle and its dynamics. If I can travel 50/100/150 or more feet on the track per lap before I brake, I will be faster than you even if I weigh a bit more based on brake performance alone.
I also believe that the WC Comp Coupes were capable of producing the same amount of down force also.
Lots of tough questions to answer, there are quite a few combinations to try. You’d hope that the ACR setup nets ahead of these other braking systems but there are a lot of other factors at play. Hopefully the carbon ceramics aren’t on the ACR “just because” and due diligence was done when designing the car. I know Ford was going to have them on the GT350 (front only?) but appeared to have bailed citing no performance increase. On the other hand reviews of the Z/28 rank the brakes very highly.
Presumably the rotors are lighter but what’s the overall weight difference considering the 19” front wheel and calipers. For now the assumption I’m making is the majority of the extra ACR wheel weight is due to a stronger design. Also, unsprung weight can improve the effectiveness of dampers so that’s another variable at play. Are we recalibrating the dampers for each combination or what damper curve is being used.
Are we asking which performs better on an ACR or on a TA, etc. Assuming you’d want to test these on an ACR, you’d swap the brake systems under the ACR wheels / tires. If not, you’d have to swap wheels and tires to the SWII introducing another variable. What’s best for the ACR may not be for the TA, SRT.
So how would all of these be tested? An advertised feature of CCB has been resistance to fade lap after lap. So not only the basic stopping distance but then you’d have to gather data on lap times over a longish run with a consistent driver. How long? Who’s the driver and on what track? What other factors affected performance between runs? What is the feel of each package regardless of performance and does one instill more confidence in the car than another (what does the specific driver prefer and is this skewing the results)?
Lastly perhaps we consider durability and running costs over time and what is most economical. Thinking about all of this makes my head hurt, I’m sure there’s a lot more to discuss and each owner would prefer a different braking package based on how they planned to use the car. There is probably not one right answer given all of the different ways the various platforms are being used by different people on different tracks.
I know that! LOL I have Speedline Corse Full Magnesiums on my Saleens (one of them is center-lock as well), what I meant to say (but mistyped) was are the GTSR Factory Racecars full magnesium rims? What do those weigh?
I love the look of the new ACR Rims (19" Front) and when I finish putting together everything for a GEN V for me, I would like to have the ACR rims on it eventually. Love the SW2s but that 19" front looks so much better on the car.
These are all great questions, but for most Viper Owners the issue is philosophical and bragging rights regarding performance, that will never be tested much less approached.
For Dodge it is Marketing-Bragging-Competitive as well as performance.
It explains why I get asked for ACR-X or TA 2.0 Rotors to be placed on street and seldom-tracked HPDE cars, when the significant extra WEIGHT of these rotors will actually slow down ANY driver in a non-endurance event!
An endurance-shod (wheels and tires) will be slower in a drag race, or a 3-lap 'track-record-run' than a Viper running lightweight Aero Rotors ACR-style, and super-light SW2 Wheels TA style. Same for Time Trials and HPDE sessions under 30 minutes where unsprung, rotating mass matters more than endurance in IMSA/TUDOR/NARRA/Cup.
The GTS-Rs run MOTEGI Magnesium Centerlock wheels.... I picked them up at Road Atlanta, amazingly light.. less than SW2 and strong as hell.......
As I recall they cost Riley almost $2000 each...

I really wonder who is going to spend 15-20k just for bragging rights to say they have CCB's.
Jon, another thing that you partially hit on, is the longevity factor. The cumulative wear effects will show up sooner on the lighter weight and lighter duty parts.
I thought I saw somewhere that overall tire height was virtually the same between ACR and non ACR.
Jon, so maybe $8k GTS-R magnesium versus $6k ACR. Not a big difference. Of course would need center lock hub adapters cost on that as well. If someone is serious about racing doesn't seem all that bad of a difference. Any idea on weight differences? Need that discount on the GTS-R rims. Ha! Ha!
Wish I had a GEN V, I would be trying to hit you up for something.

HPDE...I have seen this acronym several times on this site. Wondering exactly what it stands for?
High pressure delivery event?...I had one of them last night..hmm probably not.
In my industry HDPE would be = high density poly pipe...but my guess is that I can't just switch around the letters, so it doesn't apply in this case...
High performance driving event?
just wondering
if I remember right my 19" HREs weigh 22 up front and 22.8 in back they are the P106 monoblocks, 19x11 and 19x13. I don't have the down force the acr does but im sure these wheels would take the abuse so im also curious why they weigh so much.
