Has anyone heard if there will be any changes or updates for 2016 or 2017? Besides the ACR of course.
Any rumors? Stories or "could be / maybes"?

Ok, I'll start one possibility for MY 2017. The GTS interior will no longer be available as well as the GTS model.
A supercharged 8 option to keep up with the vette. The vette continually overheats so much faster than the Viper. We need to stay competitive.
Actually no. I doubt there will be a factory convertible option. I don't know of they could do it any better or cheaper than the medusa. It seemed like people were screaming for the ACR more than the Vert. If anything, perhaps a body refresh. I personally loved the Volodo concept.
Although I think it's about the most difficult thing to predict. I could make valid points for all options. Although the elimination of a trim level makes sense to me. If just to streamline things.
I don't see them changing the body of a viper in just four model years. Additional creature comfort options like front camera, PDR like feature etc etc. better uconnect, infotainment etc

Is there anything you're hoping for, or think should be upgraded?
We keep hearing the rumor of them discontinuing it. Perhaps that's tied to a new version, every time they refresh, we drop a year or two.
Gen3 went 4 years and a refresh. Gen4 went 3 years and a refresh. So based on history we should be due for a refresh in 16 or 17. Dodge is so good at keeping things under wraps, like the Hellcats and the ACR for example, there could be a factory TT with 1100hp in '16 and we'd not know about it. LoL
We did see that clay model of an RT/10 style vert and we know they've been trying to get a vert approved since '12, so that would be the next logical 'thing' to pop, if they were investing to that level. With the 2.0 I didn't think we'd see an ACR, and then boom goes the dynamite. I wish we had the open info like back in the day with SRT, but I guess now with everyone making a HUGE hp perf car, the competition is just too much to be slipping out info to the enthusiast community anymore.
Nothing was shown at the FCA dealer show. They showed some MY2017 and 2018 stuff there
Does anyone really think they would let the 25th Silver Anniversary of the production car go uncelebrated? They have something up their sleeves to put the automotive world on it's end. I have zero factual knowledge but basic common sense only. If it is the end of Viper in 2017, it will go out with a nuclear bomb of a car. I mean only Ford could screw up a Silver Anniversary car like they did with the Mustang. Thankfully Saleen stepped in with the "unofficial" anniversary car in the SSC. I guess if Dodge did drop the ball (0.0001% chance of that), Prefix or the top 4 dealers wil step in with something. But Dodge is not going to drop the ball on this one. No chance!!!!!!
I'm going to say it'll be a fender badge, and a special color combo, that's it.
If they had any power to throw at the engine, it'd be in the ACR. We already have like 4 aero choices, I can't image there's another they'd test and do for the anniv car. But, we'll see. Ford was certainly the ultimate fail in this category.
I think we'll see two years of the ACR, then possibly a change.
I've heard rumors of what it could be, but then again just rumors
With Chrysler doing well, I see no reason for them to not invest in the Viper at this point. Perhaps they can expand the reach of the car and bring more people into the fold. They could hit 1,500 a year - but it would require some reworking of how the car is positioned.
The SRT level was eliminated for 2016 in Canada. Only GTC (1of1) or GTS available here.
I'm thinking the Alcantra accents will be added to TA cars and a few other tweaks like making the 1 of 1 program allow you to take small things from the ACR and put it on something else.
They will never allow you to mix and match aero though. Something about each aero option is only certified as a package. So no ACR hood on non aero cars or rear diffuser on a base car.
Adaptive cruise control, 7 speed transmission, dual power seats standard on the GTC and Kumho tire option on the TA models ( CC brake rotors still ACR exclusive)
Beats me ,I was just starting rumors and ones that sounded logical to me so we could really stir the pot, ha.ha!
I don't suspect anything big for 16/17, But maybe 2018-19 for a Gen6. For that...I'm hoping for a 7sp DCT, RT/10 Targa (without the ugly ass) and 1000hp TT with a "Mopar Stage 3) upgrade to 1300hp. We know these cars need 10psi of boost and the forged motors are good easily for 1000hp....I'm not sure what's taking so long to exploit that.
They just released the ACR and put a ton of R/D into it. That car is a MY16 vehicle and the pinnacle of the Viper line. You really think in as early of MY17 they are going to have something to replace that? Too soon, not a chance.
If/when they do a gen6, remember it'll skip 1-2 years, so if they make the gen5 for '17 (we already have '16s out there), then do a gen6, it'll most likely be a '19 or '20 model, yikes. My guess is that a gen6 would take a 2 year break and return in a way that will make some happy & others pissed, by losing some of the classic viper traits and adding some others. But, that sounds forever away, the ACR is the beast from Detroit and I too don't see them 'surpassing' that in any way for one additional model year (2017), and I think '17 will be it for the gen5, then all bets are off on what direction they go, SRT knows what they're doing but they keep secrets better than the NSA does.
You guys are too picky. I'll be more than happy if they just didn't kill the car in 2016 lol
Waiting and hoping for a 2017 25th Anniversary Supercharged edition, in Silver and Black with subtle Red striping and matching interior.
The VE active suspension and 807 HP badge would be cool too.
^^^^^ that is way too specific to be an optimist. I believe Claude is an "INSIDER". LOL
