Chances my Dr Side Stanchion Weatherstrip in Sown in the Door?

Hi All,

So my new (to me) GT2 Champions Edition car is coming along. Changing fluids, evaluating, correcting a few things. Items like that. Right before it was put on the transporter for shipment to me, I was told they just noticed a 'piece of trim' missing that is common on Gen 2's. I figure that it was something I was going to have to pay myself and would source it from JonB. However, this is the outer side weatherstrip piece of the stanchion. There is a big gap. The window does not vibrate but you can see the metal door-window assemblies. The vertical part is missing from the heat seal seam down.
I will invest the time (have purchased a shop manual - coming) to remove the door panel if in you Gen 2 owners experience it has a good chance of having dropped down inside. The weatherstrip comes as part of the outer stanchion plastic which is bad enough in $$ but you cannot find them anywhere. Again any feedback, input or suggestions if found for reattaching or for sourcing would be appreciated! Thank you.

You might have to buy the entire door. There are several on ebay right now.

I think Dave is right. I wanted the glossy black panel behind door latch button. Could only find it for sale with entire door. So If you get a new door I'll buy your black piece.

Remove the panel first. When mine went missing I was told to check down in the door as it is common that this happens. Ends up mine wasn't there, but you can take the door panel off in a few minutes. Get to it

Ok the chances are that, that piece of weatherstrip has fallen down inside the door. You will have to remove the internal door panel, peel back the plastic weather seal and take a look in the bottom of the door to see if it is in there? PIA if it's not there.

You can glue the weatherstrip back onto the the plastic panel, I did and its been fine for at least two years now

Dodge does not sell that weatherstrip separately, you have to buy the whole plastic part with weatherstrip attached! So if you can't find that strip a call to the salvage Vendors would be your next step

Instead of pulling the door panel, I unscrewed four screws in my door speaker and took a quick look inside the door. My stanchion was taking a door nap inside! Popped the speaker back in and the four screws in under 5 minutes.

I told the OP Doug that it was likely down in the door, as several of mine have been. Gorrilla-Glue at the ready....

Liquid nails, gorilla glue, weatherstripping adhesive. A partial list i have written down more thoroughly somewhere. Mine was still mostly attachen when i resecured it with weatherstripping adhesive. Years later still good.

I tried them all on mine and couldn't get anything to hold. Finally got a spare stanchion (still have to get that installed).

FULL LIST - Elmer's Nano-glue, epoxy, black silicone, contact cement, gator glue, liquid nails, Big Stretch, ZAP

These are all things from threads whereas people said they worked on this exact problem. I used 3m weatherstripping adhesive like I said. Holding for years.

Super glue with methyl methacrylate monomer as an accelerant. Instant fix.

Without trying to empower Dave's "advisor" status, the 3M adhesive does work. I used it 6 years ago to re-attach mine and it is still holding. That window goes up/down a dozen times a week during good weather...

Looks like my new/old (only 632 miles) 1997 GTS coupe is missing the outside weatherstrip as shown in the original post, most likely popped off during transport (when the driver has to crawl through the window to drive car out of trailer??).

I will try the "Remove Speaker" trick - great idea!

I comes off pretty easy. The passenger side is still available but not the drivers.
