    Racing wheels?

I'm having so much fun road racing and auto x-ing this year that I want to get a set of dedicated wheels and tires. I've never had slicks on any car but the idea of more grip is enticing so I'm considering Hoosiers. So my question:

What's better, buying a second set of sidewinder wheels and putting Hoosiers on them

    Or

Buying the much more expensive ACR wheels and getting either Hoosiers or the stock ACR tires.

I won't be buying these until after the ACR is out and some reviews of its tires are in but I'm thinking about it now.

And then - am I crazy to then get Corsas vs the normal P Zero tire for my street tires? I like the extra grip they're supposed to provide and the car is only driven in the rain if I get caught in it during an organized club cruise.

    Chris,

I have a set of 100 mile take off Venom wheels that I will sell for a very reasonable price. I'll deliver too.

I would stay with 18/19 combo or go 18/18. There are extraordinarily fast Vipers that run 18 fronts. You can get a really wide 18 to fit in the front too.

There a several compound/ size choices to be had. 19 fronts not so much.

Personally I like the SW2s for this. The ACR rims cost twice as much, and that's with the JonB discount price, and weigh like 8lbs more .. each. No thanks.

The Corsa R is a great tire as you probably know, great dual purpose so I'd use that for everyday. There are a few good choices for R / DOT legal track tires. Hoosiers like you say, R888s, etc. Now if you wanted to not have 4 of the same wheel, you could use your SW2s for the track and do ACRs or aftermarket rims for street duty.

No reason to buy the ACR wheels unless you plan on buying the CC's and running them as well. But, you could buy the viperexchenge BBK and still run the sw2's and be better off in the long run imo.

This is my plan also. Keep the lightweight SW2's and add the big brake kit.

You could get in on the Forgestar order if it's still active. 18's are being offered, and you could pair them up with Hoosiers.

Set of used original sidewinders already beat up from the track and Pirelli slicks work great. The Hoosiers are DOT legal if that is a must but I was very impressed with the Pirelli slicks JonB sold me for COTA.

I'm strongly leaning towards getting another set of SW2s. I could keep my matte finish set for the track and but a hyper black set for the street (I've said it a million times I hate keeping the matte finish looking clean from street driving). I want to keep the option open of the big brake kit and SW2s are the most economical way of doing that.
