    Laguna in my TA

Here's a video done from the last session of the Speed Ventures track day June 28th at Laguna Seca. It was done by Canyon Run Videos. Came out pretty good, some wobbly shots but overall he did a good job. Well worth the $140 it cost to have done, considering all the editing it takes. Managed a 1:37 with a passenger and traffic, not bad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDV1HqODaMI

Nice video. Very well done. I want to run that track some day. It looks like a great one for a Viper. Nice lap times.

Ya I just realized that was probably him who put 2 in the dirt coming out of turn 4. Maybe he was mad he got smoked? lol

Yea for sure, lol. It was the first video you had up which was onboard. Guy was driving like a maniac in the beginning ,I tried looking up who the owner is and maybe seeing a totaled m3 for sale but no results. Only thing I found was the owner filled out the form as #7 or driver or something along those lines.

Anyways, nice driving, cant wait to see some ACR action when you get it.

Very nice driving, Darius, and some quick cars to dice it up with!

Does your left side splitter touch the pavement coming down the corkscrew? Shot at the end when the black flag comes out shows your info screen and 240F oil and 205F coolant if I read that right...those are great temps for an aggressive session.

Could you list the mods on the car when this was shot...I'm sure you've mentioned them many times elsewhere. Your passenger was a real trooper...hope you bought her dinner for helping make your video look so good

No mods really, just the lowering caps. The splitter might have scraped, never really heard any noises from it. It was high 70's that day and the coolant never went over 205, which is amazing!

Nice video, great driving. I have to hand it to your co pilot, she did a better job than I would in the passenger seat.

Awesome video...and I have been to the track a few times in my life and never seen a passenger such as you have for a ride along.

Nice video and good job driving. You did a MUCH better job driving than the driver of the orange TA in the 2015 Lightning Lap video posted in another thread.

My fiancée wanted to throw up the first time she rode with me at a HPDE, but then was fine. Your passenger seemed very calm.

Next time you might see if you can move up a group. There should be at least one HPDE run group above the one you ran it which is still below the "race" group. It seemed like you had many timid drivers on otherwise quick cars--991 and 997 GT3s, etc.

    Good job!

I was in the fastest group they had. Speed Ventures gridded you based on lap time. We all had transponders. I was the fastest car behind 2 open wheeled cars. This session I started dead last just to make the video more entertaining. The only time I've been passed in in the last few years was by a bmw m3 race car with huge downforce. He said he was at 2500lbs and 350rwhp. I stuck my hand out the window and pointed him by as my ego shrunk and and eyes winced.

I went for a ride as a passenger in Rapid Rezults white TA, scared the shit out of me. Suddenly it felt like we were going twice as fast as I just went. Last time I was passenger was in a Mazda Rx3 at Sonoma 20 yrs ago and I was screaming like a girl. I think this Laguna one was the last. I don't like it at all.

My last HPDE in August was also with Speedventures at Cal. Speedway. Before that I ran the same track with NASA. NASA had more race cars. In the highest non-race group I was one of the few cars on street tires without a giant tail. Speedventures was much better with many nice, fast street cars. The drivers in SoCal appear to be a bit more aggressive. Several of the GT3s, etc. in your video appeared to be taking it a bit easy.

Again, good driving and have fun!

Great video, Darius... you got a smokin' deal on the production/editing, I think. All those views = very entertaining.

And fast, fast, fast. Vipers were well-represented that weekend, good drivers and good guys.

Yea totally different when sitting passenger. I sat in a modded wrx sti at LS and the first 2 laps I was feeling sick. I stuck with it and the session only lasted 5 more laps or so. Never sitting passenger again!!

I've been to a speed ventures, nasa and ncrc. The nasa event was the cheapest and had a ton of cars, while I didn't race, there wasn't enough room to have a clean lap. I'LL stick with SV or NCRC.

Darius, great video and thank for posting. That was the last session Sunday and I had to hit the road so I missed making a camo appearance as you would have passed me.

This was my first time at LS and my prep was watching 2 videos, speaking to Jonathan on the phone, got a few tips at the track from from Todd, and ran the first session Sunday on top of that silver NSX for two laps. Was, kind of nervous going in so I started Saturday in the green group, first session a 1:51 and by the 2nd session in red on Sunday made my way down to a 1:42 flat.

For me your in car video was real informative. Todd told me a better line for turn 2 and great to see your approach. Also saw how you drop down to 2nd gear and get into 3rd before turn 3.

Also learned alot about gear selection from your video, I kept getting torn between going into 4th or staying on the rev limiter in 5, 6 and 8. Again great to see how you approached them.

Lastly, saw the line you take into #9 and your linked video showed how you tap the brake, then turn in. I was all over the place trying to figure out the line/speed and had 2 or 3 moderate wiggles.

Thanks again and next time up, (June '16 unlimited?), hope to get an opportunity to chat in person. Appreciate all your help!! Best wishes and thanks, Mike

I really wanted to tell him to let me out but I didn't want to ruin his session. I felt bad for taking my mom all those times lol.

Wow, that's some great driving, especially with that distractingly aesthetic addition in the passenger seat. ;-)

    Way to represent!!

1:42 is great for your 1st time. I watched Randy Pobst video and he goes into 3rd before turn 3. I guess it's faster. It like the feel of the power coming out of 3 in 2nd gear but I'm sure going into 3rd and carrying a bit more speed through the turn and exiting in 3rd is probably faster. Also going into 4th before 5 and then downshifting back to 3rd for through the turn. I've tried going down to 2nd also. Not sure how much difference it makes in lap times. I'll be there in june again for sure. See you there.
