    Differential noise

    8800 miles 2014 GTS.

symptom: increasingly audible gear whine on and off throttle above 70mph.

Steps so far: car is at dealership. Dealership says they called the factory and the factory says its not completely abnormal for the mileage and doesn't currently advise a repair/replace.

My issue is this, its getting loud. I have the 12 speaker system and I can hear the diff over music played at a high level (30+ on the stereo). Its both annoying and distracting not to mention it shouldn't be there. I had a similar problem on my 2013 GTS and they replaced the rear end. Would like to know how many others have had this problem and what steps they took to get FCA to address it properly. If this was just a trademark of the car, I wouldn't have bought it.

Howard, quit being a bitch. Go get it back from the dealer when they're done with it. Have them do an oil change, transmission flush, and differential flush. Bring it to my house, along with my Hellcat (idk how you wanna pull that one off lol) and let me drive it and ill be the judge of it needing a new diff. lol

I had a diff flush done at 500 miles and at 3400 miles. I'm not about throwing away money.

P.S. hellcat is dirty Wes didn't have time to clean it yet.

I have a 13 with about 6k, and progressively louder diff whine. Dealer just did a fluid change and said it got better.

I'm ok if makes some noise, but I'd rather the diff not eat itself while driving.

Update: dealership says that their direction from the factory is that its functioning as designed. To my knowledge all they did was drive the car and confirm the diff is making noise. No checking of the fluid no opening the casing no checking of tolerances...

Anytime a diff starts making noise, just a matter of time when it will fail. On off throttle noise is usually pinion bearings.

There was a very small whine coming from the back. You could only hear it from 115km to 126 km and only on the throttle. Brought it to the dealer and they told me its the diff. Should have it in by the end of next week.

I love this car but it has been at the dealer lots for work and is starting to become a pain in the ass, my dealer is 3 hours away
