    Gregory Vineyards Winery Cruise

Our Gregory Vineyards winery event is coming up soon on Saturday, September 12th! This will be a half day event. Below is the itinerary for the day:

2:00 - 2:30pm Arrive at Gregory Vineyards, 275 Bowling Spring Drive, Angier, NC 27501

3:00pm - Enjoy some wine tasting in the dining area

4:00pm - Group dinner at the onsite restaurant, Lane's Seafood & Steak House (very sorry, we know it's early, but our choices were very limited for a group of our size)

6:00pm - Tour the facility and grounds to enjoy the picturesque scenery

    Website: http://www.gregoryvineyards.com/

A BIG thanks to Seth Green for helping us organize this event!

Please post up if you can attend!

    Viper Family,

I hope you can make it out to Gregory Vineyard for wine tasting, tour, and dinner!
Personally, Gregory Vineyard has been an oasis for me ever since moving to Fort Bragg. It is an incredibly small vineyard and one of the most beautiful places I have seen. The only grape that naturally grows here in North Carolina is the Muscadine grape and all their wine is made from the Muscadine grapes that they grow on their land. I am friends with Lane and Teresa Gregory. One evening a few years ago, Teresa told me all about how their winery came to be. They initially had a steakhouse then started doing wedding venues because the land was so pretty. Teresa had the idea of planting grape vines to make a better backdrop for pictures and Lane simply started making wine with the grapes that grew from the vines. One thing led to another and now they are offering a variety of different wines and within the past year they started distilling wine to bring it up to 18% ABV.

It is a beautiful place with great people. We can pick our own grapes right now as they will be in season for the next couple weeks. The wine tasting is fun and Lane loves to give an interactive tour on his wine making process.
    I hope everyone can join!

I'll post a couple pictures from my last visit as well as their dinner menu.

Please reply back if you plan on attending so I can give Teresa an idea of how many to expect.

Fun time with everyone! The wines were nice, the food was excellent, meeting new folks was fun, and the tour Dr. Gregory gave was interesting and entertaining.

The wine tasting had some interesting selections. These are muscadine-based wines so they run a bit sweeter than usual.

The harvesting machine is very effective at collecting grapes.

Gregory Vineyards also has a distillery license to produce brandy that is used to fortify some of their wines.

We also had a tour of the 12 acres of vines. The vineyard is planning on expanding next year.

From the pick-your-own vines, the muscadine grapes have a thick skin and a very sweet center.

Thanks again Seth for lining up this event!

Looks like everyone had a great time! Sorry we missed it but, alas, another week at Myrtle began...

And thanks to the person who finally got a picture of the Pic Lady herself (Elaine) with her own camera!

Great event! Thanks Seth for making all of the arrangements for us. It was great to have a personal tour with Lane. Admittedly, I'm not a big wine person, but I actually really enjoyed several of their wines and took home a few bottles. They were really that good!

It was nice to meet Larry and Tricia in their pristine Gen I. Janelle and I enjoyed our conversation over dinner, great folks! Look forward to seeing you again in Asheville.

Great pics Craig, thanks for posting those. Elaine, what can I say? You da bomb of a photographer. Can't tell you how much we all appreciate your effort and talents. Stephanie, I know you are a busy "mom", so thanks for making the trip to join us. Always good to see you as well. Nice to see John and Mika again too!

Mike, sorry you missed it, but we enjoyed Terri's company...and the Scat Pack is sweet!

Next up: Charleston. A few of my pics:

    Elaine.

Great pics, if the club has a spot for club photographer, I would write you in. Thanks for taking and posting all the pics. Donna and I went to her niece's wedding Saturday and I bet your pics turn out better than the wedding photographer's.

    Jeff
