ViperExchange/Arrow Heads & Cam Package just made 661 rwhp 600 ftlbs SAE

I have been meaning to get back to the dyno after my baseline with Dick Winkles a few months ago. At the time my car had about 1,500 miles on it and probably about 500 of that was on the new Heads & Cam Package. Since that time I took both of our test cars to Colorado and back and really got some miles on the car and the motors broken in a bit.

I went back this morning to the same dyno that I have done all my runs on. It was about 20 degree's cooler in the shop this morning and humidity was down, but I still had IAT's in the 94 degree range so I still think there is another 5hp or so on the table. My last time on this dyno with Dick my car made 652 so we picked up another 9hp but the car seemed to gain some consistancy. All of the runs were clean with similar numbers. I can't thank Dick and the folks at Arrow and ViperExchange enough for the work that has gone into this package for all of us. Car runs OEM like and puts down awesome numbers.

And just as a quick disclaimer, my car has no cats, underdrive pulley, smooth tubes, and IAT heat shield. I expect most customer cars to make between 640-660 depending on how they are setup on this dyno.

Our first customer package is shipping from Arrow in the next day or so and I should be recieving the rest of the parts to fill our orders shortly after that. For those of you that have been patiently waiting it will be worth the wait.

If anyone has any questions or wants to get on my list email at awheeler@viperexchange.com

Car drives like stock, Dick did an incredible job on the calibration.

I think we always expected the package to come in between 640-655, I am happy to see with a few small tweaks that you can get a couple more out of it.

Yeah, I think a little timing is still being pulled due to heat but I would think corrected that there might be a couple more on the table.

Over 750 at the crank NA with a weight under 3,300 lbs is going to be a blast at the track. I think my car sits right now with a 1/4 tank of fuel at 3250lbs on our scales here at ViperExchange.

Awesome results and with the cooler weather it won't be pulling timing which might differ slightly but nevertheless impressive numbers Andy !!
Is there a way to get my car done earlier than the people ahead of me i don't mind paying for their spots or help another forum member as I just cant wait and also due to 2 months for shipping before seeing my car

    Awesome work.

What is typical AFR tuned to on the Viper? It was hard to tell in video but it looks like it is just under 15?

What are the base/stock rwhp #s again?

I would say that when I did the initial baseline that it should have or could have made 550. Car was hot right the street and not on the best fuel when it made 541 so for arguments sake the baseline for my car on this dyno would be 541-551. After the heads and cam package I saw 652 the first time I dyno'd when Dick was in town and then today's 661 number after a few more break in miles. We are saying customer cars should see a 100 flywheel HP again over stock.

You typically tune for 12.6, the factory runs them richer at wot.

    Hi Andy,
I understand that this package is sold for off road use only and is not legal to be driven on the street. I was wondering with the long duration camshaft, is it safe to run catalyst with this setup? Also does the engine controller still have all the OBD internal tests present? If we can run cats and past the plug in test here in California, then many folks would be interested.

Thanks to Tomball for supporting the development of these products.

Dan I was just going to ask the same question, and if I can run hi-flow cats and past the plug in test here in CA, I would definitely consider the head and cams package.

    Hi Dan!

The ViperExchange owned mule car at Arrow (white with silver stripes) car that all of the development was done on has always run cats. Our other test car at VE also runs cats. So I would say that yes it was calibrated and designed to run cats without issue. As for the OBDII plug in test. In Texas we have to show 3 of 4 monitoring systems showing ready. My car shows 3 of the 4 systems ready. Again this is an off-road package.

    Hope that helps.

You make a good point Dan , our members in the Ontario area are in the same boat . We have a plug in test only to check moniters are ok and ready . If thats a green light then more would jump on it . fwiw.
