    Current Recalls on the Gen5

I just took my Gen5 to the local dealer, they completed all the recalls (door handle, seat/airbag, security). This latest update also gave me the option for DRL (I think I had it when I originally got the car, on the last update I lost the option). I also had them install the factory rear backup camera (my 13 didn't come with one). It's not necessary, but it definitely makes it easier to back the car up into parking spots, and it will make my wife more comfortable parking it and pulling it into the garage.

If you're still waiting for the parts to be available you shouldn't have to wait any longer, call your dealer!

I see you have a Track Pack car like me. How long a lead time did it take for your dealer to get in the parts (especially door handles)? My car is due in for service in October for PA inspection, so I'm having them all done at the same time. But I need to give them enough time to get the parts in, so will need to call them earlier.

    Thanks,

Parts were available and orders filled in a week or less, now that they are all being ordered at once the supply has slowed so wait times could be longer, they need to pre order parts for sure.

To be clear these don't apply to all GEN V like the title implies. I don't think any of them apply to my 2015.

I bet it's only a matter of time though. My 15's door decided to pop open on it's on a recent trip (multiple times). I have a new door handle going in tomorrow.

swexlin, I think they had all the parts they needed within a couple of weeks or so for the recalls. The $10 bracket for the rear backup camera took a long time to get in, I've been waiting on it for months. Luckily it became available right when all the recall parts came in so I was able to get it all taken care of at the same time.

Zybane, sorry maybe I should have put "some" in the title.

For those of you that want to check recalls on your car you can use this site, just plug in your VIN:

Thank you. I'll be sure to call for the appointment a couple weeks in advance to give them time.

I also have a 13 track pack car. We can have a backup camera installed by the dealer? Didnt know that. I talked to my local dealer yesterday about the recalls and an oil change. Now I have something else to check into.

Reaper, yes the dealer can install the rear camera. All the wiring needed is already in place, and you only need 2 parts; the camera, and the bracket to hold it (part numbers below). Those 2 parts are pretty cheap (around $150-175 or so), and then the labor (my dealer charged about 3 hours to install). They have to cut a hole where the camera goes, but it's not a big deal. My dealer did a great job, it doesn't look any different than the other Gen5's I've seen that have a camera from the factory. After it's installed they just have to do some kind of software update. At that point it's the same as the factory camera (turns on when you put it in reverse, great picture, lines that show where you're backing up and they curve as you turn the wheel, etc.).

I have all 3 recalls on my car but I don't have any issues so wont be going to the dealer anytime soon. hopefully Dodge makes some sort of change with the 2017 Viper (other than color options) and I can use my 15k voucher
