On August 14th, 2015 the Washington DC Region Solo Chair approved the inclusion of all Dodge Vipers into the Classic American Muscle Class. This was approved for autocross, I'm unsure about all other solo events. See below for a history. Hope to see some Vipers out here at Fedex field.

----------------------------
Approved rules for Corvettes and Vipers (SCCA DC Region) are the existing allowances within CAM-S, with exception to the weight restriction. Corvettes and Vipers must not weight less than 3,100 pounds. Below are the primary allowances (there are more at the SCCA site, and should be reviewed by all participants).
--Any DOT‐approved tires with a UTQG Treadwear Grade of 200 or higher are permitted.
--Body Electrical System Allowances
-Components and wiring are unrestricted.
--Brake System Allowances
-Components, lines, and hoses are unrestricted.
--Suspension and Steering Allowances
-Components and method of attachment are unrestricted.
--Engine and Drive Train Allowances
-Components (internal and external) are unrestricted.
--Exposed metal interior surfaces must be covered, painted, and/or coated. (No“race car” interiors allowed, please.)
(more rules are present at the SCCA site)

Hi Henry -
As an organization, we decided at the beginning of the season that we would not follow the National suggestion to further delineate the CAM class, so we only have one CAM class for our local events.

To that end, we still agree that we would prefer to keep one CAM class, and we would be happy to see your C4 vette, and anything else that would qualify for your proposed CAM-V class, participating in our events in our CAM class. If the participation in what would be a CAM-V class becomes large and consistently populated enough, we'll break it out into its own class at that point.

And we would love for you to encourage the Corvette Club members to come to our events, too!

Hope to see you on August 29th in CAM with your vette!

Hello Mrs. Salisbury,

I've got a C4 vette, and was looking forward to running street tires in the CAM class. Early information that came out included the C4's, however later I saw the "Excluded: Chevrolet Corvette (1984‐2015), Dodge/SRT Viper (all)" statement. So if the top of the food chain in Classic American Muscle (the oldest C4's are now 31 years old) are excluded from CAM-S, I propose they not just be removed completely, but grouped into their own class (CAM-V for Vettes and Vipers, same regs as CAM-S only 3100 pound minimum). Most folks who rebuild their old vettes, rarely leave the engine stock .... which pushes them into SSM. If the new class is not seen as favorable, please let me know what would need to take place to obtain the necessary support. I also participate in the Corvette Club autocross races and can open a dialog over there.
