Is that a....?

So I just had to share this with the community. I've owned my car for just over ten years now and as a Viper owner you get all kinds of questions about the car. "How much HP does it have?" "How fast have you had it?" Etc. A lot of times we as Viper owners get asked "What kind of car is that?" Most people ask "Is that a corvette?" You know how that goes.

So I was on my way home tonight from my dealership with my RT/10 and I pull up to a stop light. The guy next to me gives me the head nod and I think he knows the car and is just giving me the nod of approval. Well, he rolls down his windo and says "Nice car. Is that a Corvette?" I thought he was joking with me as he was driving a Dodge Caravan and figured he was just being funny. I just kinda laugh it off. But then he says to me. "Is that a Volkswagen?" I then suddenly realize that he was serious and had no idea what I was driving. I laughed a little bit again and said "No its a Dodge Viper."

In ten years of ownership i've never been mistaken for a VW. Just had to share. LOL

A person in my community owns an AMMCO, said to me what type of car is that in your garage a new Corvette? I thought he was kidding as well but he was not... when I said sarcastically you know that's a Dodge Viper right he said no I knew you were a Corvette guy thought it was a new model of a Corvette that just came out let me remind you it's a 1998 Dodge Viper rt/10... he tells me he's had a lot of Dodge vipers come into his and co for maintenance but I guess he believes in Canada the Vipers look different .... so he still getting used to the way that the cars look in America compared to Canada ... but serious it was very funny...

LOL, I just got that the other week. We had a roped off club dinner meet in Manhattan. We were all parking our cars on the street and this older guy comes up to me and asks are these the new Electronic Vehicle fleet? All I could say was far from it.

I had one guy think it was a Ferrari. Others just didn't know...so I got a rear plate that has Viper in it and no one has asked that question since.

Side bar, I was driving to get gas and stopped at a light and a guy in a small Nissan started yelling out the window at me. So I turned the stereo down and he was saying nice fxcking car dude..haha

My 2000 GTS is debaged, so the words "Dodge" and "Viper" do not appear anywhere on the outside of the car. I came out of a Subway once to have a gentleman inform me that he'd been telling people it was a Maserati.

That's funny. Check out the thread I started a while back called "what have you been told about your viper." We as a community have been told a lot by others about our cars. One of my favorites is that "corvette makes the viper." Like saying corvette is a manufacturer and one of its models is the Viper. I was go into try and explain the difference but I think I had a stroke.

Not everyone is up on cars. Many people could not care less. The real thing is that your car struck a person who, apparently, has no care to know about cars. It is a nice thing for the other person to ask. They thought enough of you to not ridicule them for asking. It is a big thumbs up.
