Question GenV - TPMS base PSI value & TPMS alert

Is there a way to set a base PSI setting for TPMS? (Asking because when I start the car, the values are
showing 34 across-the-board until I drive a small bit, then they show what I know I've set them to, which
is 30PSI). The reason being, if the TPMs detects low pressure, it should have a base reference to work
    with... I would think.

The other off-reason is this weekend was my 2nd time out since new (now at 505miles), and the TPMS
alert came on, yet I could constantly see the values changing and seemed to be reading proper. (No worry
    about running low).

Any thoughts on setting a base (or resetting), and/or the crazy TPMS alert that on my dash?

HISTORY: Bought the car (New) back on 7/29 (WOO HOO to me!), first weekend put in about 250m of
flawless fun, and this past weekend another 250+. It is a 15' GT.

your sensors sound off. you should start 3-4# below what you set them to and as you drive and the tires get warmer they heat up and the pressure in the tire rises.

Yea, from what you're saying, something might need resetting or something.

I set mine at 29psi for example for summer, at start they all pretty much show 29/30, then after a bit of driving I'm showing 32ish, same for a track day, except they'll come up to 34ish.

Are you getting an alert for too high, like you start and it's reading a high pressure that then settles down, or the numbers seem true but you have the TPMS like on anyway? I've heard of bad sensors happening, kind of like anything, you could have a flakey one or something, or could be settling in with miles (which I can't imagine, but IDK).

Me as well. It take a minute or two to "reset" when the car has been sitting. They will show where there were when the car was shut off (32-34ish), then show actual (28-29). This is with the Corsas (My Dart does this as well, with Continental Contisports).

Next month, as the temps cool a bit, I'll add a couple pounds to each tire to bring them up to 29 psi on cold start.

IIRC, this is how mine behaves as well, showing the shut down numbers for a little while.

It came up as a Service TPMS System error, and not related to a High/Low value. (I should have stated
that in the beginning). But the book does hint that it could be due to high or low. BUT, the TPMS is reading
properly on all four tires. Car starts and shows 34-34-34-34.... then if driven a minute or two shows the
30-30-30-30 (well who am I kidding, one will be 31), but they are changing. During the day when driving
harder they may hit 34. But either way the TPMS does recognize something is in-fact changing. (Would be
nice if there was a "reset" option to set whey YOU say its true COLD PSI and work from there)

Could be a glitch. I had a service TPMS that appeared out of nowhere on my SRT8, tire pressures were fine. Went away on a restart, and never did it again.

This is exactly what it should be doing. It is working normally.

I got a tire pressure alert twice in afternoon HPDEs for too low! (28/29psi). Very interesting since I usually start the day at 29 psi cold and then adjust for 32-32.5psi hot, and my running should have warmed the tires right up. My first, slower, cooler morning session brought the tires up to 34.5-36.5psi hot before I adjusted. I am running the OEM Corsas.

I'd ignore the startup values and just see where it is after the few seconds of driving. More than likely it is display cached values and needs an update from the sensors to display correctly.

One day I pulled out of my garage and front right was showing 15PSI when I got to the circle in our neighborhood. I spent 10 minutes looking for a nail in the tire. The sensor went back to normal and I stopped worrying about spending $500 on a new tire

That is a weird one. The only time I got a very low reading is when there WAS a nail in my tire. My left rear was about 5 psi below the other three.

Just looked at the UConnect that came out @ 311miles.... Said 32 on both fronts, 31 on the rears (I set to 30 cold). So TPMS is working
but the warning light stayed lit. And the error came about 10+miles from home. (I need to get my spare key from the dealer and will
    have them check on it)

Yep, sounds like it needs some sort of reset. Dealer time, unfortunately.

Old thread, but today I started the car in the garage and got the "service TPMS" error message on the dash out of no where. All tire pressures are fine and the TPMS's ARE reading pressures on all 4 wheels.
I have had the car on/off so far today 4 times and the light is still on.

Had the same issue on my TA 2.0. Service TPMS light but all pressures were reading fine. Took it to the dealer and asked them to clear the code and do a reset. No further issues. Seems like it just got confused.
