Didn't the Lamborhinis and Porsches use racing slicks?? The viper stuck to the rules and went for the lap record with DOT street approved tires.

Probably the fact that the cars were not "Factory". There were some clutch mods and some other stuff that I forget.
No biggie though. The 7:12 Gen IV ACR wasn't stock either.
