Married 41 years with 4 children and 11 grandchildren. First car was a 6 year old 6 cyl '68 Mustang lime green w/black C stripe, 2nd car was an 8 year old '68 Shelby GT500 white w/blue stripes, followed by a string of family cars ('71 Mercury Capri, '81 Subaru wagon, '84 and '91 Dodge Caravans, '88 Suburban, '98 Durango, '97 Saturn SW2 wagon & Saturn SC2 coups for my teens), then a '04 320hp Saturn Ion Redline for me and a '06 for my wife a year later. The Dodge Caravans & Durango got me into a Dodge dealership where I drooled over a red viper or two and loved that Carroll Shelby was a part of it. Owning a Viper became a reality after getting settled into and completing the most pressing projects for a home purchased for our retirement years. Vipers were barely a memory, since I hadn't seen one in about 10 years. Thanks to the Challenger Hellcat, I was itching to buy a modern day muscle car. Their cost, though, was about double what I was willing to pay for a weekend car. However, an article in an automotive magazine in my dentist's office on the shutdown of Viper production was the impetus to pursue what had never been a serious dream. Three months later that dream became a reality.
