12400Just taking a moment to introduce myself. I've been a Viper fan for 30+ years. I first saw one when I was in the Army, I was on recruiting duty in Denver, CO. One day, driving down the road I saw this beautiful vehicle. I had never seen one of these before, what is it? It was a red Viper, this was around 1990ish. Back then John Elway was the QB for the Broncos and as he was preparing to leave the NFL and retire he began to buy Dodge dealerships, one specialized in Vipers, and it was him, John Elway in the flesh cruising around in a beastly looking Viper, BAD ASS! And so, since that day I've always wanted to own one. It took me over ten years, saving $100 here and $100 there until I finally saved enough for a down payment. And about 4 months ago bought my first Viper, a Gun Metal Pearl, 2015 SRT and I love it. I will tell you this. Driving a Viper can be dangerous because it will do everything you ask it to do and, it will punish you if you are irresponsible. It will even kill you if you aren't careful for it is simply put, a race car that is legal to drive on the public highways and byways. So, I'm looking forward to increasing my knowledge and to bantering with you guys.

I did not know the Viper has been around for 30 plus years... But Honestly Congrats on buying the Viper.... Elway was the greatest QB ever IMO.... I still have his Logo7 jersey that was screen printed from my middle school days... I love Elway.... I am glad he was a Viper guy and I am happy you are too.... congrats...

I could be way off ViperRT98. I just kind of blurted it out. The story is true, I saw John Elway in a Viper. The year? I dunno, it was a long time ago. But I think they started making them in 1990, or so.
But thats one of the reasons I joined, to learn.

Congrats on the new car. You will enjoy it but it does take a little time to get up to it's speed. Build your skills and the more you will be amazed.

The first Viper sighting was the 1989 International Auto show in Detroit, MI for the record :)

We are all here to learn and we are happy you joined... I just finally figured out how to remove my top on my RT/10... It was much more difficult than I had thought it would be specially compared to my Corvette. However it took me almost 4 weeks until I finally figure this out.... lol

Welcome to the madness, and thank you for your service!!!

First production car was a 1992 model (Cargirl is right Auto Show 1989 for the concept reveal)

Congrats on your outstanding Viper!! that would be near the top of my list if I could start shopping for a new one

And you're right, the car is totally able to rip your head off if you aren't careful. It's all about starting out slowly, being humble and mature about it.. and if possible find an Autocross event :-)

Congratulations on the new Viper!

John Elway's car is an early VIN 1992 and he still has it. He bought it brand new. John brings it out to Bronco Training Camp at Dove Valley every year. Of all the cars he owns, his 92' Viper is his favorite. I figure if it is good enough for a Hall of Fame QB who could buy ANY car he wants, it is plenty good enough for me. My path has crossed with John's a few times in my 19 years in Denver. He is good guy!

30+ was probably a 20+ and a keyboard slight. Happens all the time. If you come out to Denver, we might be able to get you two kids hooked up. :)
