I went to Normandin Dodge today to talk to Paul about my order and on the paper work it had a estimated ship date of September 8th! He said it usually takes a month past that for it to arrive at the dealer but sometimes much longer. Anyone else have a build date-vin? When do you guys think these cars are going to hit the showrooms?

Congratulations man, that's awesome! I have a VIN but haven't heard anything about a build date yet. I believe Bill is out until Wednesday though so maybe a few more folks will get some good news later in the week.

SSGNRDZ-Thinking about your heat shield. Any issues on a ACR 16' with it?

I can't see why there would be any issues. The hood might be slightly different, not in a way I see interfering the shield, but that's all I can think of that would be different to the non ACR cars.

Wow that's fast! Congratulations.

I'm not getting my hopes up. I wonder who will be the 1st to get one? Someone on the east coast for sure. It's a extreme, gts-r blue with white stripes, carbon exterior-interior-xbrace. Looks like I even got the gas guzzler option for $2100:(

Darius,

I too have the a ship date around that time, but I also don't believe it. I'm hoping to have the car before the 11/27 Laguna Seca track day so we can tear it up together!

Man I'm glad one of us got the GTS-R Blue with white stripes, that is one badass color scheme. Nearly changed my order to it too. My goal is to blind you with my bright orange snake so that you can't pass me, haha

That would be epic if all us Norcal guys got our ACR's in time for that event. The pictures would be incredible, to see them all coming down the corkscrew.

Seeing how it's a no-cost option, I'm doing the factory pick up.

The way it was explained to me is that I can fly out there to see it roll off the line, so to speak. In my case, I won't be driving it home. It will still be shipped to California as usual, after the factory visit.

How does that work? Do they notify you weeks in advance when it's going to be ready so you can book the flights etc? I wouldn't mind doing that, sounds like fun.

My last four are 0109. I know Bill was one of the first to realize the systems were up and running for the extreme package. I guess we'll all see if it makes a real difference.

Bill Pemberton

Keep in mind , gentleman, this system is the same as the one used for mass produced vehicles and it is very rarely that accurate , for various reasons. Think simply of the fact the cars are shipped by truck and not by rail ( rail is often a 2-4 week process of shipping , sitting in the storage yard, etc. ). Memo from Dodge is it takes 4 months , normally, to do a Viper , and the Plant was closed when the initial orders went in. Not being a downer, just explaining the realities of ordering a hand built car.

I called Paul a couple of days ago about my status too. Seems like we are all on the same ship. Us Norcal guys..

Yes that would be sick bro! I can't wait for that track day with all of us running together..

Going to the factory to see my ACR being built would be an awesome, once in a lifetime event . Let me know if you go bro..

Too bad they all can't come off the assembly line together so we could make it a Norcal folks group trip! I am debating going to the plant as well.

Bill Pemberton

Just so folks don't get confused , whether you have a regular ACR or a 1 of 1 ordered you do not get to go watch your car being built. Could go over the myriad of reasons, but the quick answer is this is not part of the program for a factory pick-up. If you are getting your car at the Factory ( you must sign up for a Factory pick up ) then you will be able to do this on the assigned days the tour is being done, then drive your vehicle home. If you are just signing up for the Tour , it is set up to do after your car is shipped. Keep in mind if you are thinking of doing a Factory Pickup it should be designated at the time of the order. It can possibly be changed fairly early in the mix, but not later as there is a discount to the car, and the invoice is based off of the order data.

Sorry, Venom , but that is not correct. Think of the logistics to make sure the car is coming off the line for each person that wanted to do that , then compound it with only certain days that tours are done. Frankly we all have to be super pleased as for many years it was almost impossible to even get a factory pickup.

Hi Bill,

I just spoke with my dealer, Paul Normandin. He said that there are two options- "Factory Pick up" and "Factory Tour and Ship" (or something to that affect). He signed me up for the latter. I'm ok with not being able to see my car come off the line, but sure would be cool if it worked out that way.

Darius, Chris, Allan, Lee-

Let's hope we get lucky enough to go on the same tour. Paul Normandin (dealer and friend) says he'd like to join us, and I could see if Maurice is interested. Could be epic!

Whether or not we see our cars roll off the line, I'd love to see the factory again and watch some bad ass ACRs being built.

Todd

PS- My VIN ends in 117, so we are all in the same ballpark. Not sure if Stryker Orange will put me on a funky schedule as compared to you guys, but I would join for the tour regardless.

Bill Pemberton
08-06-2015, 01:28 PM
Currently the Tour is done after ( key word ) the car is shipped on the "Tour and Ship." Keep in mind , as noted above , the Tour is done on select days, for various reasons. Examples would be Security ( commercial intelligence issues ) , plant improvements, personnel schedules , scheduled shutdowns, ongoing upgrades, etc.

We are all thrilled we can get these options as it has been very difficult to get this done over the past decade due to many items, but the big plus is the State of Michigan relaxed the requirements. Even those at Dodge were surprised and pleased to get a discount if one did a Factory Pickup -- that did not exist in years past.

curious what is the plant pickup discount?

Bill Pemberton
08-06-2015, 01:50 PM
If you do a Plant pickup there is an $800 discount applied to the price of the car. Kudos go to Dodge as this has never been accomplished in the past.
