When hooking your car to the trailer where on the car do you latch on to? I do not want to use wheel straps. I was thinking the axles but pics would be helpful so I don't mess this up ;) Thanks guys.

It is getting harder to use frame holes in the front. Many now use wheel straps on Gen V's.

I would recommend using wheel straps you can get sheep skin covers for the straps
The other way would be the tow points that Jon B sells for the race cars
thanks

Mac's Custom Tiedowns sells either 40 or 48" through the wheel straps with soft covers that Velcro on and protect the wheel finish. You can remove the covers and wash and/or replace as necessary. I used them with my TA with no issues, just don't roughneck tighten them as that could mess with your alignment.

Why reinvent the wheel (no pun intended), the frame slots with a t-hook are extremely easy to use. I can tie down my car at all four points in less than five min. If I take extra weight in the trailer, I can easily reposition the car to vary the tongue weight. I have used the slots on a G1, G2 and now the G5. Mac-Tie Downs offer a kit with four t-hook straps in a small dufflel.

Jack, any photos of these frame slots on the gen V? just wouldn't want to put the hooks in the wrong area.

I have five sets of the Mac's straps. That's all I used on my vipers, they all have HRE's on them.. Mac gear is fantastic with a couple of different options. I highly recommend them. I haven't had any issues even after coming off track and straight into the trailer with incredibly dirty wheels. No marks, shafting or otherwise.

Oh ya ;) Thanks Nemesis, Mac has some great straps I'm going to invest in. You guys have once again proven how valuable this forum is. Viper must live on!

The slots are approx 2.5 in long and are approx 1 in wide.
You can easily see the rear slots, they are near the end of the frame rails.
The fronts are harder to see. They are near the end of the front frame rails, about 6 in to the rear of the back edge of the chin.

Over the tire works great. If you go through the rim it leads to pulling the car out of alignment. A lot of the exotic transport companies are now strapping over the tire.
No alignment issues
No rim damage
Doesn't pull down on suspension.

This is the exact setup I use. The fleece protection sleeves work just fine on my matte black wheels.

I also use Mac's axle straps and tie downs. I haven't had an issue with the slightest bit of movement using these straps. Not a scratch on my wheels also. You will need a custom length for the rear straps to fit through the wheels. I was a bit concerned with the alignment issue when I first used them but after talking with many people on this topic it seems that unless you severely over tighten the straps you should have nothing to worry about. We are probably putting 10x the force of the straps on the wheels when turning with these cars on the track. If you have more questions they are also a great group of guys with a wealth of knowledge to answer any questions you may have.
Here is a picture to show how good the straps look on a Viper. :)

How did you get the custom Mac straps for the back? I have a very similar trailer.

Wait... You ladies "trailer" your viper to the track? :P
My TA lives at my track in a garage, but because it frequently tries to melt its self down, I have to bring it home and get it fixed...

They will send you the hook hardware to take out the backside length if need be. I had to do it for two sets of straps for the vipers, more specifically when I have one on the stacker lift because the U mounts are closer to the car than on the bottom.. Mac has been great about helping configure them properly and getting me the hardware in time.
