Annoying passenger door noise identified

Found what I originally thought was a rattle in my passenger door. Taped the window up and removed sections until I isolated the problem. Turns out, it was not a rattle, but a bad wind noise at the blue painters tape area. Now, trying to figure out next step without going to local dealer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did the rattle sound like a type of popping noise? I've got a noise like that at times but I thought it was the rear brake duct popping.

Check to make sure the window is "indexing", that is after you close the door does the window go up another 1/4"or so and cinch itself up against the door seal.

It is definitely indexing. The noise sounds like a loose nut or bolt. Surprised that is was a wind noise. Would start about 50 mph. Tape took care of it. Now need to find a fix.

Odd that wind noise would sound like any bolt... With the window down can you move that door flag (rubber front window guide)? Wondering if the attaching nuts are possibly loose?

The wind noise issue that was on some early cars has been fixed on the 15' with the updated channels being already installed so not the same issue unless they are themselves loose...

Speaking of wind noise. ... have some coming in from driver side window when at speeds greater than 50mph.. not a whistling sound but just alcan hear wind coming through. Maybe tip of window at seal? Any one else have this problem. Was thinking about,taking in for service to look at or inspect seals

Got rid of the wind noise after 2 disassembles and 2 reassembles. Had to move the a pillar boot as far back as possible and tighten it down. Seemed to be a PITA from worrying about destroying a door panel, especially an orange stitched panel. Nice to drive a car that feels and sounds tight for the first time since I have had it.

I'm the same as you, if I had this kind of issue, I'd play with it myself before letting the dealer have a whirl at it........

So how hard was it getting the panel on and off? My panel is loose anyway (separated from the door once, and I pushed it back into place). I believe that when I get the door switch recall done in the fall, as long as the panel is off for that, maybe I'll let my Viper tech take a look.

It is not that hard to do. You need to remove a cover behind the door handle to get to the screw holding the panel, remove they cover behind the window switches to get the screw out, and on a 15, remove the srs cover to get the bolt out. Get some trim removal tools and carefully pry the door at the corners, keeping in mind not to damage the panel. It is not that bad, just be careful. Prior to all of this, disconnect the negative clamp on your battery just to be sure in case you want to remove the panel completely and need to disconnect all the electrical connections from the door.

If your car is a 13, you will have 2 screws. One is behind the the handle under a removable cover and the other is behind the window switch behind a cover. Look at pic 4 my post above with 5 pics. It showed where the screws are.

Yup. Adjusted my fender spacing on my psgr side a while back. Just take your time and think about what you are doing.
