My Viper came to me with a ton of swirls & buffer marks. I wanted to get it cleared so after 15hrs of paint correction it is now flawless after which the same shop applied Sun-Tec to the entire hood rockers mirrors and splash areas behind front and rear wheels. What a difference in the paint! the GTS-R blue really looks beautiful now and the white stripes pop off the car,lol
The Sun-Tec clear bras clarity is #1 as mentioned by other members here, not cheap but here in Utah( rock chip capitol) it gives me more piece of mind. Now to get busy breaking it in as total mileage on it is 160 miles!!!!
Below are some crummy pics out in the bright sun which don't even begin to show how nice this color really is. I will take some better pics at my home and in better light. Figures its supposed to be a rainy weekend :(

Looking good. I just did the exact same thing on my black car. I could not believe just how terrible it was from the dealer.

Nice!
Having the clear bra gives you peace of mind. I was fortunate. My paint was excellent and not many issues.
Upload some more pics!

I don't think dealers use the old type dust mop handle....anymore, they send a lot boy out with an old T-shirt to wipe off the dust...many products from Adam's or Zaino work well to get the swirls off and the car comes alive with the multiple coats of products...enjoy..

Wow, 15 hours of paint correction. Not sure why Vipers get delivered all swirled to hell. Must be the softest clear coat known to man.

It is Extremely soft clear. I have corrected several gen V's and they are incredibly easy to correct. I have seen them come off the transport truck with buffer trails from the factory. I wouldn't trade the paint work for anything else though a simple correction and it looks like glass again.

One more reason for me not to buy a Gen V. Buy a new car that professes the best paint in the industry that needs paint correction? Don't think so.

You had the entire hood sunteked? Was it multiple pieces or one piece?

My car came with perfect paint. I think the swirl marks some speak about are minimal and easily corrected with a home style polish and buff. If you compared the gen v to any other 100k; Benz, Beemer, Vette, Porsche, and maserati all have way more orange peel then the Viper.

Would you mind taking some close up pictures of the seams and posting them here? I am considering the same thing and id like to see how it looks.

Looking good, I highly doubt cars get delivered to dealers all scratched up, I know it happens but once they leave the Reliable trucks you never know what happens to them as they get passed around, driven, handled, wiped off with a dishrag on the showroom floor. I applaud the dealers that leave them untouched from the trucks and let the owner clean them up. Yes it is not the ideal scenario and hear all the excuses of a 100k car should be delivered perfect. Well Vipers in most dealers get the same treatment as a Dodge Dart when it comes to care and storage. I have had all my cars delivered with no dealer care to the paint an interior ON PURPOSE. I then clean them up and go over the entire car for problems.
sorry for the rant

On my 3rd Gen V- paint PERFECT on all of them-only thing to make the paint less than perfect were a combined 40,000 miles on "gorgeous" Jersey roads!! At the Range Rover dealer last week with the wife dropping off her truck-the manager was looking at my 15 GTC-and I quote-"Your car has the most unbelievable paint I've seen in over 30 years selling cars"!!!! Also could not believe how perfect the stripes were!! He is also not the first non-Viper person to notice the paint job-almost everyone in the business who knows cars can't get over the quality of the paint on the Gen V-that's the ONE thing every auto enthusiast seems to agree on with regards to the Viper!!!

My paint is 2 years old.
Ive washed it over 40 times since I bought it in April.
There is not a single hairline scratch or swirl mark on the entire car. There are 2 small stone chips that could be removed.
Otherwise its flawless.

Mine was definitely from the showroom. You can see across the spoiler where people would drag their hands across it, and must've been wearing rings too. There was some deep ones on the spoiler. Fortunately it will be covered with a TA spoiler eventually.

I have to say I agree. I think any car upwards of a 100k should not have to be buffed and detailed, for 15 hours! Especially on YOUR tab. I will say though, my cars paint was fantastic for sitting in the showroom for 2 years, a couple slight scratches but otherwise mine looked great.

A friend sells Maseratis and tells me the cars are test driven for 10 miles and then wrapped dirty at the factory before being shipped. All his new cars look terrible and need to have the paint corrected before they are delivered.

Lol, maybe the dealer took care of mine before I got it? Idunno, but no swirls here. Comparing the paint on the Gen V to my Lamborghini is laughable. The Lambo looks like an old orange-peeled Chevy by comparison. I had my car parked by the best paint shop in town, drew a crowd of a bunch of the painters. The question that kept being asked was "How many hours were put into this paint!!??" They were blown away, by the glass, that is Gen V paint. It's that good.
Problem is...... with the paint so nice, ANY imperfection will be obvious. I'm afraid to hand wash it, because of it. Just my opinion, but I think the issue is less to do with the softness of the clear, but more to do with the fact that with the paint so smooth, anything will show easily. The hairline swirls on my Lambo, you have to get within inches to find them, but they're there. My Lamborghini has never been paint corrected, factory original. I'm sure I could have it done, and make it look better too, but meh.

Of all the stupid reasons, probably one of the worst.
My paint had really minor issues. A few pig tails from buffing at Prefix. Took my detailer a few hours to get it perfect. One of the best paint jobs he's ever seen.
There is no orange peal, no drips - it is all virtually flawless.
A few people have reported issues, oh no.
