I'd consider selling whitey for an orange T/A, but I won't take a big loss just for the sake of color. Haha. I still like my 2nd place color choice, too.

SRT actually got these cars to market a little earlier than what I had heard their goal was. Looks like they're getting their act together at CAAP.

The TA is a home run, it will give Viper sales a boost.

More on topic: these are gonna sell. SRT's missing out if they don't utilize the TA in orange for some commercial exposure.

Ditto. Inquiring minds want to know. Not sure if I would do gears though. Mark, what are your thoughts one's goal is to drive a large variety of tracks? Shorter gears = more shifting. It already pulls like crazy.

sin e the 1st and 2nd gears are close to the same overall as the 2010, going to a 3.73 will help those and not hurt the upper gears much. Yes if you are basing your choice on a particular track you may have a different opinion, but remember the GenV already has altered upper gear ratios so would be different already.

3.73 will be the only choice that will still allow the cruise to work. The gear needs to be under a 10% change for the PCM to work it. As for the speedo it has never been an issue to change gears.

Reliable has been shipping Vipers for years and years. We used them to bring most of the Hurst Challengers here (back in 2009 thru 2011 ) and have often recommended them to our clients
if they want a solid, dependable and careful Semi Tractor trailer delivery. There has been some confusion over the last year, but all Snakes come enclosed right to the Dealer's door.

We still ship to our customers in one car, enclosed , race trailers, but to us it is always the Orange trucks from Reliable.

Did your car arrive to the dealer yet?

Bill Pemberton
12-11-2013, 10:20 AM
The reason behind the pricing confusion is most magazines, guides, etc. , fail to add in the gas guzzler tax or shipping. The pricing of around 123K may have come from a computer glitch in the
ordering system that showed the rims at $1700 extra cost, when they were part of the TA package. This was quickly noted and was corrected by SRT soon after they were notified of the
concern. This brought the pricing back down to 120,480 and that pricing is a huge credit to Ralph and crew, as this also includes the 12 speaker stereo system, the NAV and backup system and
they were not part of the initial preliminary pricing given to many Dealers. Kudos go to them for holding the line and adding even more equipment --- obvious to many of us that this may be the
bargain Snake of 2014!!!

Mark, with all the "you can't mod a gen5", and "I changed the air filter & got a CEL and then the car imploded and created a black hole". Can you clarify the mods for the headers with Corsa? You're doing this and not doing any computer stuff (O2 simulators, or PCM or anything?) and the cars are running fine (I assume strong), without CELs or other issues?

I'd assume if the car doesn't throw a CEL then it'd pass an OBDII scan state emissions test ..??

Thanks!!

All correct as of this time, we will have 5 cars running soon and hopefully they all react the same as the beta car has. Each owner understands this risk and I will do what I have to if something changes. The only thing that may not pass would be a visual check I assume.

Lou has done many test to make this as PCM friendly as possible to get to this configuration. The longevity of the cats will be the determining factor, that is why he has upped the ante in that respect. If in fact there was a CEL for the inefficiency code at some point it would not cause a limp mode so it would be a light, but that would be it. Hopefully if that ever happens I will be pushing even harder for a PCM option, but we know where that is right now. :-(

Although you may not get a CEL, the sensitivity of the IAT sensors and being that close to the filter could potentially contaminate the sensors and possibly provide false calibration information to the PCM (lower performance?). I have always discouraged the use of the K&N on the Gen4/5 Viper because of the ram air pressure that is present at speed. The factory filter is well braced for this and the K&N does not appear to be well suited for it. Just my 2c.

I dissagree Mark.. There is 100 times more contamination from the crancase breather tube oil fumes going into the air box than my K&N that I custom oil ( much dryer than factory) . Never had an issue in 20+ years and 100's of thopusands of miles on K&N's on all my vehicles..

Actually Bob, you would find that Mark would agree with you to a point, since over the years we installed alot of K&N systems on Vipers, Challengers ,etc. and I ran plenty on my own vehicles and race cars.
The issue, now, has been the oil based filters , and the contamination is mainly on the past few years where the air volume could disperse some of said oil into the systems. Precautionary
concern for consumers as engineer friends have alerted us to possible issues ( not just Chrysler guys, by the way).

I used to have them also and would probably say everyone can have an opinion just like I do. My responses are based in conversations with the SRT engineers thoughts on the topic so that is what I will always recommend to my customers for filtration AND stability at speed. I also have read articles such as this and think the finding are important if it was my own vehicle.

I had the k&n oil issue on my solstice GXP. The oil off the k&n was in a particulate form - I became good at cleaning the sensor.

On a G5 the vent tube contains more hot gas than particulate oil. That system has multiple baffles. Keep in mind, there is no issue until the car is maf based.
