View Full Version : Arrow Heads and cam thread for Woodhouse Motorsports

Well I wanted to start a thread for our shop since after all the delays in the cam production we should be ramping up very soon I'm assured. This package has been very well received as others have proven and here at Woodhouse it is no different. We will be documenting the first one as soon as the cams are boxed up. Arrow only has 30 sets of big valve heads staged for the packages and we have ordered 6 to get us started (all 13/14 customers, new ACR cars also when they start arriving). Arrow has promised to keep the turn around fast for heads and the PCM calibrations because of the cars we have lined up, can't wait to get started and hope to have something to post very soon.

If you have any questions that come up please feel free to contact me anytime

You can also follow along with other projects that go through the shop on our FB page

Jerry,

Hi Jerry,

The parts for the package are $10,991, that price is set for all 3 dealers, if it is an over the counter sale there will be a $2000 core charge for the stock parts. Arrow has not given me an exact number for this on a already driven vehicle, but when we do new Vipers they get all the take off parts back. So if you buy the kit and keep all the stock parts there could be anywhere from $2K -$3k in core charges.

Timeline? Parts have been delayed many times because of the cam core supplier so I have stopped dumping gas on myself lol, I hope the kits are ready to ship soon, lots of cars and people in line and they have been for a long time now.

You can install the kit on your own or have your Tech do it, but there is no implied warranty on anything unless it is installed at 1 of the 3 Arrow authorized dealers like Woodhouse, then you will get a 12/12 warranty.

Thanks,

Redx

Arrow has bought their own development car and are working on it, I do not get the impression it will be released before the end of this year.

I hope they release the blower soon.

I wish I could justify having two ACRs...one with a blower and softer springs for the street..and one for the track. Damn, an ACR extreme with a blower would be the definition of a street terror.

Update, according to Arrow the cam cores have not even been shipped from the supplier to the grinders (maybe by the end of the month...) so we are at least 3 weeks out still for the production cams. :-(

Hi John, the Mustang 2 roller dyno we use has put most of the 30+ baselines at 520-525rwhp on late 14' cars. In the early days of the GenV we were at around 500 because the tune was richening up so much over 4400 rpm, the new cars and the reflashed early cars are pretty consistent in the about 520 range though which seems low, but this dyno has always been a heartbreaker lol, but consistent before and after numbers over the 8 years we have been going there.

johnkn

Thank you, Based on those numbers any expectations on new heads/cam/PCM/headers/exhaust?

Well since the bolt on cars average 560 the H/C should be around 610-615 I hope, but will have to see.

Heads and cam update, Arrow has and is installing the first production camshaft in their test engine to run on the dyno. If all goes well in the next day or two the cam grinders will be working overtime churning out cams! Woodhouse Motorsports has 5 of the first batch incoming and will be scheduling in cars as soon as it is verified we will be getting products to install, we also have many new ACR and GTC cars lined up for the long awaited arrow Racing heads and cam package! Stay tuned here for more info coming soon ;-)

Another update, after running the first production cam in the test engine on the dyno Arrow wanted to make a very small change in tolerances to insure the best valve train performance on the production cams. The timeline for shipping is looking like 1.5 - 2 weeks from yesterday. We have cars waiting and I know my customers are weary from the delays, but it will be so worth it when we start working! Hang in there ;-)

Package should ship tomorrow, will take the car to dyno for baseline in the morning ;-)

Arrow will be offering their carbon coil covers also as an upgrade if anyone is interested, will have the Arrow racing logo on them along with the Stage II designation and then WMD 740 if you like with or without.

Those look awesome! Where is the 740 figure coming from? If Andy's car put down 661 wouldn't the calculation to the flywheel be around 760?

Arrow is more comfortable using the 740 than the higher number, all dynos/operators are different and they are using the numbers from the dyno they trust.

Here are a couple more series of pictures, we are by no means rushing this process, just too many things to make sure you are 100% to risk. We also spent some time making sure things were fully protected from the heat. These pictures do not yet include our heat shielding for the PDC box just the wrapping.

We have 3 more kits shipping from Arrow today and 3 more cars arriving this week so we will likely be able to speed up a little, but we are nothing if not careful here at WMD.

13135
PDC and evap lines
13136
Coolant and metal oil cooler lines wrapped.
13137
These to areas were left un shielded and since they are in the foot boxes we desided it would probably help cabin heat also to insulate there.

The first Arrow package went together nicely and drives perfect, we took our time to get things right and plan out the little details like heat shielding we are including. I have not bothered to post dyno numbers as you all know from the past our dyno reads terribly low compared to most others so numbers are not as "impressive" as some run elsewhere, but the gains are certainly there where they should be. We are now working on the 2nd and 3rd installs and with all the new 16's we have scheduled and about 9 cars that are already owned it is a busy and exciting time here in the shop. Please follow us on FB https://www.facebook.com/Woodhouse-Motorsports-Division-167968157736/timeline/ for current and past projects.

Will be starting this beauty on Tuesday, 2nd car went flawlessly and made more power, about what I guessed a car with miles would do anyhow. The last 1/2 of my initial order from Arrow should be here in time for the next 3 coming in. So far even though our actual numbers are skewed lower than others (all dyno related logarithms) the gains are there and very strong. The 2nd car will be making a trip to the strip very soon and I know he will be sharing his experiences with you all.

Mark, please keep us updated on how that 4.10 change works out. I'm still on the fence about a change to 3.73.

We have done 4 of the 3.73 and 2 of the 4.10's before this, this is just the first H/C package with the gears swapped. The 3.73 are noticeable, but the 4.10 is nuts with just the car he did with full Belangers and Arrow PCM. This car should be crazy quick, albeit traction less LOL.

I have sold a couple of the Wavetrac diff upgrades with 3.73's for the Gen5 also, but no track time as of yet to see how it works compared to the stocker.
