Hi guys,

My car has been in D1 status since 29/10/2013 . What could cause it to spend so long in this phase ?

thanks.

Hahaha. Run a search on the vca site about this.

I'm so glad checking the build in the dark and with frustration isn't my life any more

I waited 1/2 year before I threw in the towel and bought a dealer car. I hear CAAP is running much more efficiently now on the plus side.

So hopefully you'll have a happy new year's present!

I hate to say "I told you so" but I did tell you privately that the TAs would likely be built first, and your VIN could be January due to the Middle-East destination. At least you get to drive 12 mos of the year........it is 'common' to wait a few MONTHS for Viper order.

WORTH THE WAIT!

I think I waited around 6 months for mine. Tried to forget about it until dealer told me its on the ship, then the real suspense starts. Definitely worth the wait.

I waited 9 months for mine. It gets frustrating, I assure you.

But once you get it, you forget every day you waited.

Nice to see so many of you guys in the Middle East ordering them, glad it has universal appeal!

It is hard to describe how great it is to someone who doesn't have one.

Just a pure pleasure to drive...

How low, Wide, loud does it seem/is ?

How low, Wide, loud does it seem/is ?

It's SLS low, porsche wide, and at full throttle I couldn't hear the ferrari 458 next to me *wink wink*. The tone has character, making all sorts of noises on both downshifts and upshifts WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT (which is often and is a nice surprise). Rolling thunder sounds to cannon blasts (seriously) and everything in between. The way I'd describe the loudness at highway speeds is bearable (with GTS extra sound insulation). I personally wouldn't want it any louder and I feel bad for the neighbors if I turn on the car on a cool engine at night.

By the way, it handles speed bumps very well, even with the aero package.

Will try to post nice pics as soon as I can, expect some evening shots tonight.

On a related note: can someone informed please tell me if there are any exhaust or emissions differences in export vehicles?

WoW !
I ordered mine without the aero package, but with the external carbon package (I thought I would have clearance issues)
I'll be waiting for the pics :)
Thanks,

Far as we can ascertain there is no difference in the exhaust system for the cars going to the Middle East. There might be some changes for cars going to Europe, but not even sure they have
passed the requirements there.

Just to make you feel better , many Dealers in the US have cars in D1 for a month or more, as Jon's comment that they will be doing TAs currently is pretty much spot on. It will be worth the
wait , but keep in mind they are just getting the distribution set up, so you will probably have one of the first cars specifically sent to your Country for sale ---- nice to be one with full warranty
and the ability to order to your own specifications.

Also , make sure your Dealer requested to have your name on the Window Sticker. He can order it to read , " Exclusively built for .......and your name would be listed . "

How is the warranty a good thing in the Middle East? I'm afraid to use mine in the states. I doubt there's authorized service near him?

On the plus side, no one in the Middle East is going to have one. That level of exclusivity is awesome!

The curves on the hood of this car are so outstanding that I think it's one of the sexiest parts on any car in history. From many angles the car is a piece of artwork. You will enjoy it.

Thanks so much for uploading the pics. Can't wait to get mine (Why did you choose US-sized license plates as opposed to Euro ones) ...and did the dealer offer any front plate holders ?

already in Kuwait we have 4 Gen 5 Vipers, and mine is coming on Jan 22, and there is a waiting list at the dealer soo long.

Sounds like SRT should up the allocation. Plenty available here, so sell 'em overseas and in Canada.

Please keep in mind the Jan. 22nd date is a tentative date. Once your car is finished you will have a better idea when it will be shipped and as you mentioned your Viper has not left D1 status.
Once in KZ status it is ready for shipping, and that would give you a better idea of when the Snake will be coming your way. Many of us have endured this waiting period and though it is
difficult the arrival of your Viper will be more exciting than you ever imagined!!!

In the meantime , get the excellent book on the Generation V by Maurice Liang and read about your dream every evening!
