I have been fortunate enough to still have a perfect front bumper lower (knock on wood). Have been very careful about angles going to gas stations, etc. I found an option which I installed today and am very happy with. I have attached pics (sorry-windows phone camera) of the product and with it on the car.
The product is called Bumper Defender. They have a number of products that look to specialize in the protection of doors, bumpers etc. What I ordered was the Front Bumper Guard. With this you get 2 - 3 ft strips. They are 2" wide and beveled on the side to a thin 3/16" thickness. Best is they paint and clear to match your paint. Total for this was $37. delivered. And they sent a bunch of sample pieces first to get the best match.
I cut two smaller pieces (it cuts cleanly with sharp hd scissors) for the outer parts of the bumper. Then one longer piece (23") for the middle section. The product is 3M taped edge to edge. I cleaned the paint well taped marks for the pieces before removing the 3M tape and put them on. I hit them with a hot hair dryer also. The pictures don't do it justice. If you are down at ground level you can see them but they look like it could be OEM. Standing or walking around you don't see them. Also I have plenty left to remove-replace if one gets gouged up. If I get lucky maybe this effort will keep me from scratching the front. Kind of like buying rain tires for the track and it doesn't rain for three years at the track. Worth it! Mine is such an unusual color and getting the flop right on the metallic colors almost never matches exactly. This is my solution for a measure of protection.

* Geez the car pictures are terrible. I'll get better ones with a camera.
