I talked to Andy about this last week when they did their first runs that they did not film, just to see where the Stage II car stood against a stock configuration. Andy was so friggin excited about how well the car performed he was giddy on the phone. No way he could have faked that and the video he posted exactly showed what he had described before they took the video. :) I see a Viper Exchange Stage II package (http://www.viperexchange.com/viperexchange-exclusive-performance-products-for-gen-v-vipers-3) going in my car soon at the Gen IV package is available.

In fact, I call dibs on the first one Andy!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, on a very early calibration (on our mule at Arrow) the car was wanting to stall parking lot speeds, but Dick fixed it before it ever got to my car or our other test car. Everything with my car has been really, really good (knock on wood). Our other test car just made it to the top of Pikes Peak and ran great all the way there. He's making a couple small adjustments to the tune and we should be ready to go.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy driving the car this way.

Haha no, Jeff was a little lazy on the hit and probably doesn't shift as fast as some guys here but it wouldn't have made that much of a difference I don't think. Both cars had similar fuel loads as well.

For the Tune/Header vs Head/Cam package test can you do one run from 40 where you both start in 3rd and run it to redline in just that gear? That will take the driver completely out of the equation and will show any differences in low RPM torque between the two.

Hi Darius,

I don't but do run a very quiet catback. I think with a Corsa on it, it would be very loud and noticeable.

with the Uproar , is the car quieter or same as stock? Also does it reduce heat by the door?

Flatout,
Have you had your car on the dyno with the headers,cat-back,pulley and controller before the heads and cam package and if so what kind of power were you making? I believe the H/C package is a great add but I would like to have seen it put on a stock Viper, tested as you're doing now, numbers posted, then the mods added to see other increases in hp.
In your opinion which of the mods you have are necessary if you get a H/C package?

Full exhaust, heads and cam, and Arrow stage II controller are necessary to make the advertised number. Our stage one full exhaust and Arrow ECU's typically make between 590-600. I have not had this setup on the dyno yet but expect it to make 650 SAE.

I'll get Nineball out at somepoint. Tonys a great driver and one of the few people that want both cars to be accurately represented. No tricks no BS.

Dick is tweaking the calibration a little bit more so I won't have the production calibration in the car for a few more days.

Nope in addition to the H&C to hit 900.

Not true, the H/C package will not work with the H/C according to the designers, you should pick one or the other. I could be wrong though I'm not as connected as the VE guys.

As of now we are looking into offering it both ways Marc. The Sledgehammer 900 hp package was heads and cam and the blower to hit 900 hp at only 6 lbs of boost. We are toying with some different options for the blower package though.

07-05-2015, 05:56 PM
Interesting. I thought 6lbs of boost on a car with headers and exhaust would have no issues hitting 900hp at the crank. The Arrow release certainly didn't mention anything about having to have the heads/cam to hit that number.

Dick will be back at VE tomorrow I'll touch base with him again. There have been different ideas bouncing around so I'll touch base with them again.

You figure boltons gets you to around 690-700hp so at 6lbs the blower alone would need to make an additional 210hp to get to 900.

4.3L blower at 6psi boost, on top of a high compression 8.4L V10, should likely make 900 hp (800 rwhp) without much issue.

Paxton on a stock Gen 3 at kit level low boost = adds 200 rwhp

Even my 2.3L Magnacharger on the 7.0L Z06 added 170 rwhp at 6psi. Tiny blower, smaller engine.

Just examples. I would think a 4.3L blower would easily add 250 rwhp at 6psi.

Good to know I thought it would take more boost to get there. I'll see Dick tomorrow and chat with him.

I talked with Dick yesterday, he thinks you could use the big valve heads if you wanted to (although with the S/C you probably would not need to) the cam they have designed though is not S/C compatible, I don't see them going all through the development process for the cam and then the added tuning for this. The bottom end would likely need to be drastically beefed up to go beyond the planned package, at least for a company like Arrow to be comfortable offering it.

Blower only as in still retains the VVT cam? Interesting...I'm guessing they can control how much boost gets bled off better if that's the case.
