Found a great deal on a white 2014 SRT white viper with 2200 miles. red leather seats, carbon exterior (5100$ option) , and the 1700$ rim matt black rims.
My last car was a C7 with a blower made 608 on 91 with torco. Loved the car and was on the fence on what car to get. MY options were
2013 GTR with 3300 miles
2015 Z06
2014 Viper.
Since I already been there done that with the GTR I decided to rule it out. The Z06 was next on the list.I felt it would have been to close to my C7 in driving experience so passed on that.
I have always wanted a Viper and LOVE the looks.Plus they are extremely rare.
So I Rented a car from Las Vegas and drove to CA about 290 miles from home. When i arrived the car looked amazing! I sat in the car and my head was nearly touching the roof lol. I am only 5,11 190lbs. I adjusted the seats and boom felt better. The Cabin space for the driver is VERY VERY tight. Much tighter than the C7. I did not like that too much. I also had a hard time with the big ass blind spot behind the passenger window.Holy hell that is one huge blind spot when you pull out in the middle of the road to make a left. You can't see anything. Filled up the gas and headed to vegas.
On the Highway this car is LOUD. I had B&B bullets on my vette and at 80mph it was super quiet. This car is loud as hell. Last but not least the pedals, they are so damn close to each other.I found myself hitting the brakes and gas a few times. I finally got the right adjustment and got used to it. I don't know if i was just tired or acting like a little bitch..Those things were bothering me at first. I came from a GTR which was a tank inside and C7 which has mucho space. I have burned my leg twice on that exhaust. I think eventually i will learn not to lean into the car to get the keys..lol
Power wise. Well its 110* in vegas 91 piss octane and DA6775. Car felt underpowered due to the elevation and air of course.
Ok , by now you guys are like go buy a van or some shit. right?
I woke up this morning refreshed with an open mind. washed the car , waxed it. Got the seats perfectly set up. got on the road and drove it for a good hour. I also added 100 octane to make 93-95. While the temps are still stupid hot the car felt awesome. Handling was dead on. Loved the note of the exhaust driving through the city. I could not be happier with it now. It just needs another 150whp and it will be the perfect car for me.
Anyone else needed sometime to "bond" with the car sorta of speak? and no i did not do anything to it in the middle of the night.. more like get used to a race car in a street form.
sorry for any spelling errors. Typing on iPhone. Ill post pics in a few minutes

Great looking car!!! I love the white with the red seats.....now ya need some red stripes!! My first real drive in a Viper was driving mine five hours home. At first I was wondering if I'd made a mistake but by the time I got home I was lovin' it. Now with new tires and new suspension I look for reasons to drive it.....or just drive it for no reason!! LOL
Been keeping my eye on this car for a while. Listed for 77k in fallbrook right? Congrats man! She's beautiful!

Congrats on the car!!! You'll get used to the car’s character, and it'll make you like it even more. It's a true sports car: it demands compromise, and rewards with performance. Cheers.

Congrats on the new Viper! Excellent color combo. The interior does feel small compared to most cars, but you actually do get used to it.

This^^^^^^^^ Mine was very "thirsty" when I first got it. I went through a quart of oil in the first few weeks just to keep it in the "safe" range. It seems to have stabilized now, and I haven't needed to add in the last month.

I will check oil levels today! Thanks for the heads up.
you took out the dead pedal and there was more room? Do you have a pic and how more room did it give ? I would love to do that.

quick question. Is there a way to lower the car on stock bolts? Even a 1/2 inch ?

Check this thread for some great info including lowering caps if you're not ready to do a whole new suspension.

I just found that I was occasionally catching the dead pedal with my left foot and started keeping both feet a little to the right which caused me to hit the gas while braking sometimes. I tried moving the dead pedal all the way down and then all the way up and I was still catching it. Now that it's gone I can keep both feet further left. As far as oil goes, I think it was 2 quarts down when I did the first change at 1,400 miles. I put another 1,200 on since the change and it hasn't lost any oil. Because the dipstick is partially under the brace you can't really pull it straight up so it's easy to get a false read by scraping some oil off the inside of the tube.

Can you give us a comparison between the viper, your blown c7 and your gtr you had. I'm sure most here will agree that we all love the viper but I always enjoy seeing someone who has actually own multiple cars that compete against each other to hear some real first hand experience.

The C7 had more room in the driver side,C7 was more comfortable and Pedals were set perfect for daily driver.. With the blower it did feel a little quicker than the viper. That could also be that NA cars lose more power with DA being so high right 6500+. Handling the viper wins hands down. Looks wise , Viper wins hands down. I think the Viper making 700hwp- 800whp Would be perfect for me.
As far as the GTR. I love the car and only reason i did not get it was because it carries a 8 year old body style and wanted something fresh. Stock The gTR was not that fun to drive it really needed to make 560whp+ to be fun a street. With the bigger turbos on my GTR it lost that instant part throttle fun factor. WOT it was the best car i have ever owned. Made me smile everything. On the street on 20's tires it would do 0-60 2.3 secs every time.
Thats the quick comparison without getting into to many details..

Its fun messing around over there. I don't take anything they say personally. I am good friends with the AMS crew and its been a blast watching the AMS beat them at TI back to back.
I bet your getting a lot more attention than the C7 and GTR :drive:

LOVE that interior!
You get used to the blind spot in the rear. Took me a couple weeks to get used to it, the rear visibility and the gauge cluster. SO much going on in the gauge cluster! You gotta swivel your legs out carefully to avoid getting burned.
I still can't back it up into a parking spot. I need those elderly cheater mirrors!
Congrats!

blind spot = setting mirrors correctly. I realize some of you are referring to backing up, etc. but this is for traffic issues. It takes about a week getting use to the setup. Typically everyone sets their mirrors so they see the side of the car, however this is incorrect. To setup correctly place head against drivers side window and adjust drivers mirror outward until the side of the car is not or is barely visible. Next put your head in the center of the car and adjust passengers mirror the same way. Next sit normally in drivers seat and adjust rear view mirror so that cars coming up on your left only leave your rear view mirror after they have showed up in your drivers mirror. Once I have set the mirrors in my 04 Viper I always double check when driving down the highway in case moved during cleaning, etc. If you adjust your mirrors this way it allows you to eliminate blind spots and you do not need to turn your head to check for traffic behind you. As an added bonus you will also find that headlights approaching from the rear are never shown in your outside mirrors. I started this setup when I had my BMW M3 years ago and the track rats suggested this setup as the preferred method for people who track their cars and I have never looked back, pun intended ;)

Since you recently had a GT-R, how do you feel about the stock Viper vs FBO GT-R comparison?

This. So many people set their door mirrors incorrectly. From a normal seated position, if you can see any part of your car in the mirror - they are set wrong. They should be set just to the point where your car cannot be seen. The interior mirror is for looking behind the car, the door mirrors are supposed to be set for blind spots, nothing behind you.

FBO on E85 or 91 fuel? E85 vs stock viper , GTR would kill it.
from a dig 91 octane GTR would win. From a roll it would be damn close.
I am in Vegas and DA is on average 4000. NA cars lose more HP in higher elevation vs turbos.
AS far as the blind spot, I was referring to when you are making a left when crossing through traffic coming from your left side going say south and stopping half way in the intersection waiting for traffic going north to pass so you can continue making the left. You can't see the cars coming when you are waiting in the middle waiting to complete the left turn.. It her impossible to see the cars in a buy intersection.
Its not a big deal to me.. just saying you have to be extra careful with that blind spot.

In my little northern town of less than 100,000 people, there are more GT-Rs than Shelby Mustangs. They're everywhere here. Pretty sure I have the only Gen V, so far.
