A friend of mine brought up the idea of making scuff pads for a TA 2.0 out of aluminum instead of the oem plastic. He said it would be lighter and tougher and could be powder coated to look like the black plastic scuff pads. I am not sure this would be a good idea considering the forgiveness and flexibility of the plastic over the aluminum. Thoughts?

What would happen once you scuffed through the powdercoat and had the color of aluminum showing through vs the all black plastic? I think it would draw more attention to the eye once scuffed. At least with the black plastic you can take a file and clean them up every once in a while with no contrasting color to point out your 'scuffing'.

I thought about that and figured you could get a tube of flat black touch up paint. My biggest concern with the aluminum is if you hit it on something, you might damage the carbon fiber that it is attached to where the plastic might be more flexible and not damage the cf.

My 1st thought is you now have 2 metal blades on the front of your car.

I would end up with a pile of aluminum shavings at the end of my driveway, I scrape mine pulling out of my drive every time so this wouldn't work for me.
