People were asking to show in car footage of how the shifting looked liked while racing. So my friends from TRC came up with this video!

No lift shifts for the win. I don't think people realize how much it helps the Gen V's straightline performance. When the throttles stay open all of the between shift lag is gone. The first time you run a Gen IV or V Viper from first through forth clicking off no lift shifts you'll be blown away at how quick the car feels.

Awesome Vid man, always great to see people working on their technique.

Being new to the Viper, it just feels like you're gonna end up in a ditch lol. I used to power shift the $hit out of my kenne bell gt500 but easing into it with this car, depsite being pretty much the same TR6060... At what mileage did you guys start no lifting in terms of tranny break in? Are you guys no lifting 1st to 2nd? I guess the Corsas can hold that...

Damn current power read 768 at one point in the last few seconds... I wonder how accurate that is.

Not sure how accurate but it's fun to look at. This is the highest I've seen.

My Corsas did not. I WOT shift my car and it would spin on 2-3 and 3-4 on cool nights. I flat shifting my car with 800 miles on it lol, and have been since then. No issues with 800+whp.

Here is my car chirping 2-3 on NIT05R's lol, man these things are fun to drive!

That is one great video I have been waiting for !
I thought while watching it that the Viper added a lot of value to the video and make it more interesting. That orange TA rocks !
Again, great work from everyone and thanks for sharing it.

Paul, cool video. I like the edits, especially that external car view looking in. Only thing I'd remove is the white truck, most non-informed people would think "big deal, you beat a V6 200hp truck." LOL

no-lift-shifts are the common ingredient to winning races. :)

Yea I agree most people won't know how fast that truck really is. Most comments on YT are just plain ridiculous. My favorite being " I should be double clutching" WTF?

All in good fun! I think he is flat footing the throttle and just shifting as fast as he can. Throttle to the floor, kick the clutch grab the next gear and off the clutch as fast as possible. He can add more if he likes :)

Nice shifting, I guess the only dents in that TA are in the floor board :D

What technique are you using to shift?

Hard to explain. I keep the car floored and press the clutch and shift at the same time. Just needs to be done quick. Look at this part you can see my left leg and arm as I shift. https://youtu.be/UdJcrz33nMs?t=54s

Practice lol

What rpm are you shifting earl so you don't bang the rev limiter?

Unless someone already did! :)

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was awesome! There might be a bigger dent under the accelerator. I tend to push down hard on it when I see a car passing me while I'm racing lol.

My rev limiter is set to 6800. I try and shift around 6600.

I can't write no where near as good as you. I'll leave that to you. lol

Nice Shifting P.
For me it helps to "pre-load" the shifter in the the direction you are going to the next gear. You keep the preload, and as soon as you kick the clutch it goes in the next gear with ease. The way you grab the shifter
for each shift also helps.
Nine Ball has a good article on it on his page.

A student or teacher owns an orange TA at USF...probably the one you saw. I haven't seen/heard of another one in the Tampa area.

Fair enough. It was only a half mile down from USF so that makes sense. Very nice looking car nonetheless!

It looks like you're pulling it out of gear as you're depressing the clutch, and slotting it into the next just as your foot is depressing the pedal all the way. I don't know if I'd ever have the guts to do that with 640hp hitting the clutch. Knowing my luck the first time I tried that I'd end up facing the wrong way instantly.

It feels to me as when the clutch pedal hits the floor board is when I shift.
