View Full Version : Rented a Mustang (for an hour)
Got to rent a Mustang for an hour -- quite an experience. We went from Mcclellan in Sacramento (around Lake Tahoe) and back. It was through the Collings Foundation (http://www.collingsfoundation.org/events/category/wings-of-freedom-tour/). I recommend it. Has anyone else done this? Right now, they are in Oregon.

i rent a mustang from time to time for biz. they are nice. Same goes for the camaro

I just happen to know what you are talking about, though, since I've considered renting the same thing; but, I am waaay to cheap!
I think that you may be talking about that AWESOME one of a kind 2-seater, V12 model ?

A camera is set up (pointing a the passenger) in the cockpit, but you have to ask beforehand. I was told that they would offer the video AFTER the flight for $25. No dice.
The best deal is 1 hour because you get an extra solid 30 min and later you can become a sponsor and get free rides for you and any friend on the B-17 and B-24 for life for an additional donation.
So if you fly the Mustang, ask for the video beforehand.
If 1,640 HP is not enough, they have an A-4 Skyhawk and F-4 Phantom in Texas.

Ooh, F4 Phantom !!! I have a buddy that worked on F-4 radio equipment on the carrier around 1970 ; but, never got a ride. I will forward the info to him.

Looks pretty damn sweet. What's it set you back? I was considering doing one where you dogfight in more modern single engine planes, no experience necessary for my next big birthday or something like that.
Seems awesome and like a great day.

No experience necessary, the instructor handled the rudder and throttle. I only used the joystick. The only instruments I used were the compass, altimeter, inclinometer, attitude indicator, and airspeed indicator (for loops). When you reach 270 knots, pull back. 1 hour is $3,200 which is a tax deduction (charitable contribution). The $3,200 can go towards unlimited lifetime flights for you and a friend on the bombers and a bomber jacket. (There was no Turn Coordinator.)

Got me good.lol. I know it wasn't intended but when I hear Mustang, I'm still a car guy. Sounded like a fun trip?
How cool is that! Awesome stuff to be able to fly a P-51!
Check with your CPA about that deduction...you did receive something for that donation.

Yes, it's a deduction on Sch. A. C J, but you need to deduct the value of the goods or services you receive (subjective).

The F4 is in Texas, and they don't promise to break the speed of sound.
