Viper is at the dealer getting new rear axle due to high pitch whine so i thought i would share pictures of new axle which the Viper tech told me they had to get from the production line so i feel bad for those who are waiting delivery of there new Vipers.

Also note on the bottom view of axle where the two threaded plugs are located. Viper tech said they are for adding rear axle oil cooler which i guess is an option??

The 2 plugs you refer to are for the pump inlet and the other for the temp sender. The return to the diff from a cooler is located on the right side above the fill plug. no option for a cooler from Chrysler but there are several ways to make and install one.

Am I the only one concerned that the viper tech had no clue what the plugs were for and invented a diff cooler scenario??

Why do you think that he had no clue ? Sounded to me like the right answer; which Steve confirmed, and he ought to know! Was the diff cooler stock on an ACR-X ?

Surprised to see so many diffs being replaced(by members on this board).

What do you mean by high pitched whine? I've noticed that if I'm moving the car and the power has to shift to one wheel (like if a rear tires comes mostly or all the way off the pavement for a second) it makes a horrible screech.

The noise i am referring to was a whine and loudest when driving on the freeway at speeds above 60 mph. it gradually got louder with time and i had a vibration that is all gone now.
