Hey Y'all

I finally got a chance to test out my new foam gun. I didn't know that a special soap was recommended so used regular ole car-wash instead. I am happy with the results. There is a reduction of suds compared to Junkmans videos. I think this is because my water pressure was weak. I installed one of those on/off valves and it doesn't seem to flow properly. I am going to wash the car again tomorrow morning with the valve off and see if there is a difference in hose pressure. Here's a VID to show you what i mean about the suds.

Also, I think i finally found a wax i like. Meguires Paste wax. Goes on easy but takes some work to get off.... I like the work... The feel of the car is just better.

Also took the car for a drive up to St Augustine to visit some friends. This paint sure is reflective! Had a guy in a brand new Sky Blue M4 taking pics of the Viper as he drove by.... Pretty cool!

Looks like you got more suds than I did using Mr Pink (chemical guys) soap. I'm def switching to the DP's Extreme that Junkman suggested.

Okay, let's compare results. You filled your foam gun bottle halfway up with the soap you used and the rest with water. I put 2-3 ounces of DP's Xtreme Foam Formula per 6-8 ounces of water and these are the results that I got:

Now, guess who is going to go through their bottle of product faster. In the end, you are actually spending more money and not getting optimal results. That's why not all soaps work well in a foam gun. They are not made for that. To your credit, you did buy the GOOD foam gun instead of that crappy Foamaster II. Good job on that.

As for that paste wax being hard to remove, the reason why is you are leaving it on the car WAY too long and allowing it to dry. It is not one of those Turtle Wax kind of products that you let haze over before removing it. You basically do 1/4 of that hood and then IMMEDIATELY wipe it off. That's how you use all carnuba PASTE waxes.

Ahhhh.... Thanks for the advice on the wax Junkman. I'll do a section and then remove. The instructions said do entire car then remove.

If I were you, I would go with some Collinite Super Doublecoat (http://www.collinite.com/automotive-wax/super-doublecoat-paste-wax/) carnuba paste wax. You can find it all over the place for less than $20 a tin and a little bit goes a LONG way. It's a lot better than that OTC Meguiar's product. The good waxes by Meguiar's are a little more work to apply.

Thanks for the tips junkman.

Yeah a good foam gun is such a worthwhile investment.

OP...I had an issue with water pressure too but I found it was being caused by going from a smaller hose into a bigger hose. Though I think those plastic collar things might affect things a bit too if you don't have tons of pressire to start. I don't. But I connect my griots filter (avoids hard water issues we have here in Arizona) between two hoses with the quick release mechanisms and screw the foam gun onto the end of the hose and I have fine pressure then.

Ideally the filter would go right to the spigot but my spigot is not low to the ground so the filter hangs off of it and could break so I have to put it between two hoses.

Best of luck. I am gonna try the DP extreme too.
