Yup, this is a low downforce/low drag set up for the long straights at Le Mans. In 2013 they ran without the canards. The wing is much taller this year though. I asked Keating on fb and he said it was a different set up for less drag.

I hope the Vipers will continue racing in 2016 as well. Id love to see Viper, Vette and Ford (Yep 2016 Ford GT) in the top three at Le Mans with of course the Viper being in 1st place.

FS2 is OUT on Timewarner Cable as well. Sad that soccer, the spurned sport in the US, can preempt THE sportscar of the year... and yet NASCAR can dominate several channels.

The Viper retired after 304 laps ... may have been gear box issues.

Winning GTE/am Ferrari did 332 laps.

Car was fast - it's best lap equaled the #64 vette ... without tax payer money!!!

Very proud of Ben and the boys for putting in such a great effort and running so well.

Hopefully they can pry some funds out of Sergio to help next year.

Got back home Sunday at midnight. We did not stay until the end of the race due to the long journey home.
The Viper was still running when we left at 2pm. I did manage to get to the rear of the pit garage during the race but sadly there was not much to see.
Friday I was eating in a restaurant after the Drivers parade and who should be eating around the corner but Ben Keating and friends, pure chance we were in the same place. I was also wearing my Viper Exchange Ring T Shirt, Ben Liked that and I got some photos of us together :) (Pics to follow)

A real shame the gearbox failed :( Do we know what broke? Is the gearbox a Gen V box or something different?

300 laps is still many many miles of racing under their belts.
Being this isn't a factory backed team they did a outstanding job.

They ran a GTS-R which has a rear mounted gear box not the standard front mounted gear Gen V box. BIG bucks. Cause of failure unknown. I don't recall that the team had any failures last year with that box.

My favorite part was them running the fastest lap and highest average speed through the race. I think there is real hope given another chance next year. In practice and qualifying the Aston's looked impossible to beat they were running so fast.

Killed me there wasn't a camera in the Viper. It would've made it much more enjoyable to watch. The only GT cars with cameras were the Vette and one of the Porsche's. It's sad how little coverage the GT class gets...they wouldn't stop talking about the damn Prototype cars. Same with the Tudor series. As you can see I got more fun out of updating stats from the mobile app and the Viper exchange twitter feed. I'm down to pitch in. Lol

If someone figures out how much an in-car camera costs, I'll be more than happy to pitch in to the cause. Great effort by the lone Viper this year.

Great effort, but never in contention. It still shows that there is a substantial difference between the private teams and factory teams.

The Aston Martin cars looked like they needed some weight, restrictors, etc.

Valiant effort though and great to see a Viper in the game.

It is a BIG $$ Xtrac rear mounted sequential trans. Not anything even close to production. They have had issues with it before (Daytona 2014)IIRC.

I told him after seeing some photos to get himself some Red Bull gear to see if he can get us into some places :D
