1. If you had a choice for a stripped down version of the Gen 5 for 90K ( no stereo, upscale leather, fancy wheels, launch control, teck filled cluster and head unit and the rest of the bells and whistles but, still had the Performance options) over....


2. A 140K loaded version with all the above and the rest of the bells and whistles.

Would you pay 50,000 for the extras?


Which one would you take? Number 1 or Number 2

Would take the stripped down one but would still need bluetooth, speed limiter/cruise control and a backup camera. Wouldn't pay $50k for the extras though. A good interior is nice but it doesn't need to be swathed in leather, but it can't look like a bargain basement junky interior either.

Number 1 BUT only if the car had minimum 750 hp.

We just made that decision and choose option 3.

A fully loaded 2009 ACR with a 1,000 miles and saved even more.

After looking at the new cars (2013-14) we would have purchased option 1 but then compared to the ACR it was an easy decision.

Tough decision. The options are to limited for me. I would be o.k. with option one BUT I at least need a stereo to listen to tunes when I cruise.

If I wanted option 1 I would have bought a used Gen 4. So if this game only allows me to pick option 1 or 2 I pick #2.

I would opt for a T/A Viper or a ACR Convertible .Limited production run in the Mopar camp has Allways been cool ;)
Like the FBI 4 door powered HEMI Cars in the 60's ! :)

Well, the Gen V is virtually what you describe already.

You can start with a base around $100 and add on $50 in options if your heart so desires it.

I'd go for Option 1 and then spend the $50k on paint, interior, and performance mods. The factory does nice work, but I want my car to be 1 of 1.

I would cringe and be pissed off at the 50k extra I had to spend, but it is what it is. When I get a Gen5 it's not for the purpose of being a track rat, it is to drive it around and enjoy it. So number 2 is the only option.

Number 1: but I'd want the black lightweight sidewinders and brake upgrade, the latter I'd have to do myself I guess, oh & I'd have to pay for Silver paint.

If I were going to pay the $120k range, it'd be for a TA, if it came in Silver, I'd be close to pulling the trigger in fact, this is worth every penny & should be "the" Viper.

The $140k range would have to be an ACR, an impressive one. IMHO. The fancy leather, stereo surround, blah blah is in my luxury rides, not my perf cars.

Yea, I agree. In fact, the most appealing to me so far is the orig red cars with Track pack. You can get one for $100k if not maybe under. If they were Silver I'd buy one a yr ago, not a fan of red. But I'd buy a red one if - you could mod it & the possible "heat based power issue" were resolved, & we knew when/if a vert is coming.

You should see if you can edit this thread into a poll, the numbers might surprise some. I still think you should start with and 85-90k stripper and add anything you want. And make the options reasonable, not $5000 stripes.

Option 2 only if it were a really unique car such as Stryker Red or Carbon Anodized.

Otherwise, the TA is the perfect mix at $120k for track rats.

Option 1 -no way. Spend this much on a car and no radio, nav or back up camera? Spend a few extra bucks.

I think the base SRT is an excellent value as equipped in 2014, no need to strip it down any further. But I'd prefer the performance extras that come with the TA.

I guess I get the purpose of the question, but it seems to be a bit extreme on the two options.

Option 1: No new viper has been in the 90k range for a long time, so why expect it to be so. Seems like you are asking for a Gen4 and why not just get a used one if that is what you want?

Option 2: 140k is at the high end. So many GTS can be found for the 122k-132k range right now.

The replies seems to suggest the extremes as well. All in all, seems like the Viper has options to satisfy both ends of the spectrum.

Maybe the more interesting question would be:
1) how much would you expect to pay for a base Viper? (95-100k seems reasonable)
2) how much would you expect to pay for a loaded Viper (110k-120k would seem like a more appropriate price to me)

So, apologize if not answering directly, but in the two options I list, I would choose option #2

I have to say, it is quite interesting to see all the different views in regards to options and utilizing the bang for your buck scenario.

I for one would vote for a stripped down version, saving the 40K+ and customizing my car , my way, with that money saved.
