Plastic dip wheels

I decided to do a plastic dip on my wheels. It looks pretty good.

1485I plasti-dipped mine Charcoal Gray and put index cards (instead of taping them) around the rim. I like it.

The wheels look good, but what the hell is wrong with the rest of the car? It looks like you've wet sanded half of it or something.

As far as as plastidip, I love the stuff. I did my track wheels first to see how it looked and if it would hold up. After seeing how well it stayed on, I did the wheels, grill, mirrors, etc (anything chrome) on my H2. After that I did the 6 spokes on the Viper.
I just stripped the black off the 6 spokes and I'm doing the anthracite gray with a coat of glossifier to match the stripes on the car.

If I ever get on the track I planned to coat the front and a few spots on the car to keep it protected. It's easier than taping up the car.

Macombtwp, it was your post on the Morgue that I first saw the Anthracite color. They look great and I think will match up pretty well with my stripes.

These wheels look awesome in black. I powder coated mine and added a little red to offset it. A complete transformation.

Yeah the paint is half wet sanded and some polished parts some not done yet. It a work in progress. I did the plastic dip to make sure i liked the color before i get them powder coated.

1494 I've seen powdercoated wheels - they look good and they have a smooth finish -- yours look good Moezee.

Gotcha. Just about every car I own is always "a work in progress". Even when there's absolutely nothing wrong with it in the first place. ;)

Nope, it peels off rubber easily...unless its really old and cracking rubber (which I hope is not the case). You don't even need to take the wheel off the car. Just take a couple plastic bags and cover your rotors and calipers..and mask off around the wheel well to prevent over spray. Either way this stuff comes off if you want it to. I put some on my DD last march and it's still holding strong.

I think it's called "Glossifyer" I think I'm gonna try this stuff.

Yeah the day I went to do my truck wheels it was high 50's or low 60's out, maybe slightly higher. Everytime I sprayed the can of plastidip chucks came out (this only happened with the anthracite cans, never had this issue with black). Their website recommended soaking the cans in hot water and it definitely worked much much better. Why did you take that off? Looks good.

Because my winter set is black and those are my summer wheels. The Daytona R/T's have a chrome face with black pockets. After a while I noticed dirt and grit wasn't coming off and my wheels had a shade of light brown. I'm no pro at plasti dip, yet, so it was darker in some spots than others and I ordered the kit. You need at least two cans of glossifier.

Got anymore side profile shots? I'm curious since we have the same wheel set-up. Not sure I'd do it, but I have been curious what a it would look like. Or perhaps a gunmetal color would have looked like.

The gunmetal plastidip is not what you think it is. You can usually find some in home depot's. It is a lot lighter of a grey than normal gunmetal. I originally bought that to do my wheels but it was way too bright.
