My driver side motor mount came apart and i can't find the correct one to do back in yet. It also bent a little.

I think the Crossroads regional President Blknblu has a set of motor mounts for sale here on this site. Better then stock too.

Mine is melting too and the heat shield is correctly installed. Gen II. Belanger headers.

Ryan, I noticed my Woodhouse passenger mount is melting, just starting, caught it before it looked like yours though. I realized the heat shield was on backwards, and my driver side is on correct and not melting. I loosened up the passenger mount and wedged two oversized pieces of scrap aluminum sheet in there and bolted it back down. It's holding up now.

I'm on my third set. I made my own heat shields that come all the way to the bottom of the mount. Otherwise you will melt the very bottom portion of the mount.

This is all interesting as when I called Mark he swore I was the only person that this happened to and that something must be wrong with my car. After more time passed and it happened to a friends car and I knew it wasn't just me and that this was happening to other people but they probably just weren't checking them. Everyone thinks that once they have upgraded from the crappy stock ones that there is no need to check the Woodhouse ones because they would not fail. Anyone that has Woodhouse mounts should def. keep an eye on them or go ahead and make a set of your own heat shields.

Matt, I agree, I know I'm pulling my engine soon enough so will do what you suggest, make better heat shields.

I just bought some poly urethane mix. Going to make a new mount using the stock metal. Only thing that really sucks is i can't drive the car for 3 days. I guess its not a be deal since it has been on jacks for 3 days already.

I though of taking one of my old ones and welding it up to use on the DS as a torque strap.

If I am interpreting LATAMUD's last post correctly, he is talking about a solid mount for his motor.

The Viper motor doesnt take kindly over time to solid motor mounts especially when the motor is worked hard. The block casting will distort and can cause a disruption in the cylinder liner sealing.

Looking at a previous posting in the VCA forums about the same subject, a person who was running headers complained that his Wood house mount melted. I think that anyone running headers regardless of whether or not the mounts are stock or a Woodhouse Set, is foolish to think the the original heat shields are up to the task. The header tubes provided 4 times the surface are for heat to radiate off of compared to the single tube of the stock manifold.

FYI mine melted with stock manifolds... The driver's side heat shield was installed backwards. The passenger side was installed correctly, but like MTGTS said even the bottom is starting to melt.

Mine melted a little too. Just a matter of time if I don't address it. Maybe wrap it with aluminum foil?

Just have some new mounts made that go all the way to the bottom. They also need to flare out a little so there is some air between the shield and the poly like the stock ones do. I would not go solid mounts IMO.

You could try some header wrap.

I have the Woodhouse mounts on my '02 GTS. No engine mods, stock headers, hi-flow cats. I verified that there is no sign at all of the engine mounts melting. The shields are installed toward the headers. I have done quite a few track days, so plenty of high RPM, not just puttering or cruising around. So, is the problem batch related, or is it due to slow speed cruising that doesn't induce airflow, or is it due to modified engine/headers, or incorrect install, or rich running engines? I can see why Woodhouse would have thought that it is not their "design" if folks like me have no issue.

For all the people who have melting mounts, when did you buy them? I am wondering if the compound changed when the price went up last year.

I put woodhouse mounts on mine in 2008, been at the track had 8 hours cruises. I do not show any sign of melting.

I installed mine as well in 2008 with no issues. I've noticed mine are started to fade in color but look structurally fine. I'm not using header heat shields so I wonder if that's a factor in allowing the header heat to escape as opposed to being radiated toward the mounts with the heat shields installed. I ought mine March 2013 and have stock headers and a Magnaflow cat back. I've put about 5 miles on the car after installing then last March and car sat all year while I was away. I still haven't driven the car and only noticed the mount melted while hanging out under the car.

I'm running ceramic coated headers with the factory shields still on

My headers, not installed, are ceramic coated, but I will still be wrapping some heat shielding around the motor mounts when I get to it.

I bought mine in in October 2012.

I should have mentioned I bought them in October, installed them in November. I put 600 break-in miles on the car. The car was down from November to May 2013. I put another 1000 break-in miles and that's when I saw mine was melted.
