USB port does not recognize when the phone is connected nor does it charge.
It does not appear to be fuse related as it is intermittent. And I have tried 3 different cables.
Anything else I should check before I resort to the dealer for assistance?

Did you pair your phone??

I paired my phone via Bluetooth, and I have had a similar problem. I plugged the phone in via USB, and watched the screen tell me to "Please wait" or something like that for about 5 min until I finally gave up. I can't remember why I wanted to plug it in via USB in the first place. I think there was a feature that was available via USB and not available via Bluetooth?

Mine recognizes my Iphone but not a USB flash drive for music.

I should have mentioned that the phone is paired and it worked when I first got the car.
For the unaware, USB connection sounds MUCH BETTER than bluetooth!

A lot of these new phones and players just do not communicate well with in car systems. I run my original Ipod Classic and it never gives me issues. It has not been updated with fancy new operating systems and features. It is the same MP3 player it was 10 years ago and it just works.
Have you tried plugging in another player to see if is the system itself that doesn't recognize your phone?

It is not the Iphone 4 that I am using.
The Dodge USB does not like the cables supplied by Apple.
Switched to a quality aftermarket cable and everything works!

My USB connection works fine with Apple cables and iPhone 6.
Doubt it matters but you guys all do the UConnect upgrade if earlier models?

Hey ViperJon, thanx for the heads up on the UConnect upgrade. I went to the website, plugged in my VIN, and sure enough it needs to be upgraded. Cheers!!! I would have had no clue. For those of you interested in doing this, here are the links. My system was a 13.??? and 14.25.5 is the latest. Anything below a 14.25.5 can be upgraded.

One piece of advise for those who aren't all that tech savvy, like me, once you download the software onto your USB stick, you then need to double click on the file to extract the files from the zip file. I put the USB stick in the car without doing this, and of course nothing happened. I went back inside, double clicked on the file and voila, it extracted. Then I went back in the car, pushed the start button twice to run, inserted the USB, and switched to Media then USB on the touch screen. It was fairly straightforward from there.
