How will all these options affect the used market?

I recently was able to finally buy the car I've wanted for years.....a Viper of any generation. After a lot of reading and searching I ended up with a nice Gen3. I really wanted a GenV but the budget just didn't allow it right now so my goal is to enjoy it for a year or two and then trade up.

I can't help but wonder how hard it is going to be searching for a used GenV in a couple of years. How in the heck will you know what's a good deal and what isn't? And likewise when you guys sell your GenVs that I'm going to buy....how will you determine a fair price?

With previous generations, like when I was searching for Gen 2 and 3 cars it was pretty easy.....they're all optioned the same so you just look at condition and miles and it was easy to compare one car to another and see if it was a fair price. Obviously I had the normal things you look at to determine if a car is a good deal.....but with all the options now with the GenV.....how in the heck will you compare one car to another without going through an extensive list of options and then trying to find another car like it to compare to in order to determine if it's a reasonable price?

It seems like it will be a lot more of a challenge both buying and selling?

As my realtor used to always tell me, the market will tell you what it's worth. Whatever someone is willing to pay for a particular car is its value. Both buyer and seller have to do some
research.

To be honest, most of the options on the Gen 5 haven't seemed to add any good resale. The most heavily optioned (highest MSRP) cars were also the heaviest discounted. Color combo and package will drive most of the sales, certain colors just sell better than others. The car is worth whatever someone will pay for it, or whatever someone will sell it for. Patient sellers usually get a fair deal, impatient sellers get rid of things in a hurry for less.

the market has answered and it is not pretty. There is no market for used Vipers..ZERO. you can't give these cars away. sad but true

The GEN V is a whole new ball game with resale, with the demise of SRT motorsports and a 15k dscount on the cars, really changes how to price the cars. in a few years the prices will level off after time heals.

That is what the $15K voucher was for. Sure, I lost money on my pre-ordered '13, but the voucher made up for it. My payments on the '14 TA are actually less than my '13 was, and I put zero cash towards the '14 during that trade.

I looked in a 500 mile area. Could not find a dealer willing to deal. Not that many for sale in Florida.

When I found the one I wanted I immediately scooped it up. It was more money than I wanted to spend but I saw the value.

I found a 13 Gen V GTS with 2500 miles for sale at a dealership in Miami for 59k. It was sold in 1 day.

I believe they are selling faster than anyone thinks. Otherwise there would be lots for sale- but there aren't.

Yeah every single one priced that low SHOULD sell in less than a day. Even if I couldn't get average market value for mine I'd still trade up to a sub-$60k Gen V!

Yes I understand that but use it for what ? Buy another Gen V, get in a deeper whole for just a new color. No other upgrades worth while to buy another. I don't track anymore so not in the market for an ACR.

Too bad they are not salable or transferable.
What's the difference to Chrysler who buys the car as long as someone does.
I'd buy one to put towards an ACR.

There has to be a way around that. Somehow, buy the car, don't register it, have a dealership somehow broker the deal to the 2nd/actual owner to escape paying taxes twice, or some other way to make that voucher work for you.
